Section 161 of Railway act indicates “If any person driving or leading a vehicle is negligent in crossing an unmanned level crossing, he shall be punishable with imprisonment which may extend to one year.”

Section 131 of the Motor Vehicle Act indicates that “Every driver of a motor vehicle at the approach of any unguarded railway level crossing shall cause the vehicle to stop and the driver of the vehicle shall cause the conductor or cleaner or attendant or any other person in the vehicle to walk up to the level crossing and ensure that no train or trolley is approaching from either side and then pilot the motor vehicle across such level crossing, and where no conductor or cleaner or attendant or any other person is available in the vehicle, the driver of the vehicle shall get down from the vehicle himself to ensure that no train or trolley is approaching from either side before the railway track is crossed”

However due to non-following of relevant rules by the road users, many accidents are occurring resulting in loss of precious life  at unmanned level crossings.

Suggest solutions for reducing accidents at unmanned level crossings.

Unmanned Crossing accidents just become carelessness of Goverment, railway administration & people activity. First goverment should maintain it wherever railway lines held, before it view all the safety standard so that people may aware about & get follow that so both would have to take an step on their level to improve this.

Thanks for making me a member of mYGOV. My first request to Gov Of India is to create a Bharat Of Honesty where people can expect what our politicians promise, they fulfill their jobs honestly. Our INDIA is lagging behind in world ranking due to dishonest attitude of our politicians, who till recently have taken the public for a grant. forgetting that this public have voted them at the time of election.

It is always good to learn from how other countries have addressed this problem. On a recent visit to China, I obsereved they have totally eliminated Level Crossings by building ROB or RUB's. This has ensured no accidents, faster travel of trains, and no frequent horns by trains. Further the tracks are entirely fenced to avoid tresspasing by humans or animals. We can start building ROB/RUB taking up routes where frequency of trains are more.

Although public needs to be aware of the dangers involved, the design of the barriers at Railway Crossings also need to be redesigned...many times cycles and pedestrians somehow sneak past under the barrier even with the train very close. Instead of bamboo there should be metal bars like the ones used on city roads to block people from crossing roads. That would prevent pedestrians and 2 wheelers from crossing when the crossing is shut and alsi stray animals from getting killed.

We have to create an awareness in the people about it. Also it should be strictly followed by the guards. And most important is to manage the covering gate at this type of sensative places

CONT..........................3. TO EDUCATED ROAD DRIVERS ABOUT SAFETY AT UNMANNED LEVEL CROSSING, PUBLICITY CAMPAIGNS SHOULD BE CONDUCTED TIME TO TIME THROUGH DIFFERENT MEDIA LIKE QUICKIES ON TV, CINEMA SLIDES, POSTERS. NEWSPAPER, RADIO AND STREET PLAYS ETC. 4.ADDITIONAL SPEED BREAKERS BEST POSSIBLE REMEDY TO BRING THE SPEED DOWN. UP TO DEAD SPEED SO THE DRIVER JUDGE BEFORE THE CROSSING. BCOZ. MOST OF THE ACCIDENT DUE TO CARELESS DRIVING OF ROAC VEHICLES.

1. UNMANNED LEVEL CROSSING PAR AUDIO/VISUAL WARNING SYSTEM INSTALLED KARAIN AND PROVIDING WARNING TO ROAD TRAFFIC OF APPROACHING TRAIN. IN THIS SYSTEM, WARNING STARTS ONLY WHEN A TRAIN IS ACTUALLY PRESENT AT A PREDETERMINED DISTANCE FROM THE LEVEL CROSSING AND WARNING CONTINUES TILL THE TRAIN HAS TOUCHED THE LEVEL CROSSING. 2. SPEED BARRIERS MAY ALSO BE PROVIDED IN A ZIGZAG MANNER SO THE SPEED OF A ROAD VEHICLES IS REDUCED AND THE REACTION TIME FOR DRIVER WILL BE SUFICIENT TO JUDGE BFORE CRS

har station ki 2 taraf jo 2 rail gate crossing hai uhapar gate keeper raina jaruri hai, or admi lok ko bhi sabdhani say rail gate cross karna chaiye, kiu ki paisa janay say paisa ayega, but jan janay say o nahi byapass ayega.or har disel or electric engine par aisya system hona chaiye jo driver or asst. driver ko aleart karega jo samnay track par koi khatra or kuch fasha huya hai.tab o lok bhi train ka speed ko control par la ya sakengay.
