Section 161 of Railway act indicates “If any person driving or leading a vehicle is negligent in crossing an unmanned level crossing, he shall be punishable with imprisonment which may extend to one year.”

Section 131 of the Motor Vehicle Act indicates that “Every driver of a motor vehicle at the approach of any unguarded railway level crossing shall cause the vehicle to stop and the driver of the vehicle shall cause the conductor or cleaner or attendant or any other person in the vehicle to walk up to the level crossing and ensure that no train or trolley is approaching from either side and then pilot the motor vehicle across such level crossing, and where no conductor or cleaner or attendant or any other person is available in the vehicle, the driver of the vehicle shall get down from the vehicle himself to ensure that no train or trolley is approaching from either side before the railway track is crossed”

However due to non-following of relevant rules by the road users, many accidents are occurring resulting in loss of precious life  at unmanned level crossings.

Suggest solutions for reducing accidents at unmanned level crossings.

The work done by Bhopal Station master had saved a few thousand lives. He stopped many trains heading to Bhopal station on that fateful gas tragedy day or night. His family might have received may be 19 -20 lakhs only. His services were if insurance accountability is taken into consideration will run to few million INR. Late Anderson was left to escape. But this govt servant need not be left with a mere citation and paper honour sir.

रेलवे फाटक पर "तेल व ग्रीस" लगा देना चाहिए। जिससे लोग बंद फाटक को पार करने का प्रयास न करें। इस प्रयोग को एक न्यूज़ चैनल पर दिखा रहे थे।
