Under Smart City Mission, Municipal Corporation of Biharsharif invites citizens to participate in ‘Smart Ward’ Design Symposium. This symposium is aimed to discuss with residents, public representatives, and government officials about ‘Smart Ward’ concept. An outline of ‘Smart Ward’ framework is presented below. We request you to share your innovative ideas/feedback/suggestions on the same.

‘Smart Ward’ Concept

Smart Ward focuses on improved resource-use efficiency, empowered local self-governance, access to assured basic amenities at local area level. ‘Smart Ward’ encompasses sustainable and inclusive development of all sections of its community, so that they enjoy a high standard of living. The 100 percent achievement of the following basic amenities, outcomes, and services in a definite time frame, is a non-negotiable condition for moving towards Smart Ward:

• Homes for all – with access to the toilet, safe-drinking water, and regular power.
• Every household has diversified livelihood opportunities.
• SHGs and youths have access to skills development.
• End open defecation.
• Has functional solid/liquid waste management system.
• Every Ward has its own dynamic development plan prepared by community Participation.
• Every Ward has green trees all over its open spaces.
• Every Ward has functional water conservation and harvesting structures.
• Every Ward has functional Citizen Information Centre.
• Every Ward has telecom/internet connectivity.
• Ward Sabha are held four times a year with minimum two-thirds Attendance.
• Every Ward has a functional grievance redressed system.
• Safety of residents especially children, women and elderly.
• Pedestrian and Non-Motorized Transport friendly pathways.
• Use of renewable energy like solar rooftops.
• Innovative use of open spaces, heritage buildings for recreational activities.
• Preservation of natural resources like rivers and ponds.
• End all preventable maternal deaths and infant deaths.
• Zero school dropouts of boys and girls up to 12th class.
• Easy access to Anganwadi Centres, primary schools, and health centers.
• Malnutrition free (children below 9 years of age).
• No girl-child marriages (girls below 18 years of age).

Stakeholders are encouraged to bring in suggestions, innovative ideas, information on best practices related to ‘Smart Ward’ concept as envisaged above.

Assured water and electricity supply, sanitation and solid waste management, efficient urban mobility and public transport, robust IT connectivity, e-governance and citizen participation, safety and security of citizens. #SmartWardBiharsharif

Using CCTV/ sensors/ SMS/ app-based alerts for monitoring bin fill levels. flyovers or subways wherever seems necessary Wider roads and ell separated buildings with green areas in between. "New planning related suggestions: 1) Proper separation of residential areas with industrial and commercial areas 2) Relevant bypass roads for city so that undesired traffic do not enter the city 3) Flyovers or subways wherever seems necessary 4) Wider roads and well separated buildings with green areas in between 5) All town planning tasks only by educated and experienced consultants #SmartWardBiharsharif"
