Prime Minister’s Vision for the Aspirational Districts

On 5th January 2018, while launching the Aspirational Districts Programme (ADP), Hon’ble Prime Minister said that “we are living in an era of immense possibilities which in turn creates opportunities. We need to identify existing aspirations in the District and channelise them to create ripple effect for transforming Aspirational Districts. The development of every village of these 112 districts is vital to our commitment to social justice.” Thus, it was clear to all that ADP was a bold attempt to reduce the inter-state and inter-district variations in development by adopting an evidence-based policy making approach driven by real-time data.

Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog in collaboration with UNICEF and My Gov announced top 30 innovations of The Gandhian challenge across India. We received 3800 innovations from the nearly 3000 Atal Tinkering Lab schools along with community schools that participated in the challenge to bring Mahatma Gandhi’s values – including truth, non-violence, service and leadership – alive by designing and innovating for a new world built on these powerful guiding principles.

The Institution of Lokpal, organized Logo design and Motto/Slogan writing Competitions, online through the “MyGov” portal in June 2019 in order to seek people’s involvement and participation for suggesting Logo design for the Lokpal.  A total of 2236 entries were received for Logo Design from people of varied age groups and from different parts of the country.

Dry converted wet rice cultivation – an affordable alternative

The district administration of Khammam in Telangana, in association with scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) in Wyra have recommended the use of dry converted wet rice as an alternative method to transplanted rice to overcome shortage of water and labour scarcity.

Aligarh Development Authority (ADA) in Aligarh district of Uttar Pradesh is setting up a modular roof top rain water harvesting (RWH) unit atop the office of the Divisional Commissioner, Aligarh Division.  From water shortage to water abundance, the system will also enhance water quality and provide unlimited water storage capacity.

Held for the second consecutive year, Swachh Survekshan Grameen 2019 (SSG 2019), India’s largest sanitation survey being conducted from 14th August to 30th September, 2019 has had phenomenal response with over 3 crore people providing feedback, including 2 elderly women – a 100 year old and a 91 year old from Katni district in Madhya Pradesh.

वर्षों से भारत में स्मार्ट सोच वाले उद्यमी अपनी समृद्धि को चुनौती देने वाली पुरानी समस्याओं के समाधान के प्रति समर्पित रहे हैं। मानवता की सेवा के संकल्प के साथ और परिकल्पित उत्पादों के निर्माण भी किए हैं। हालांकि, शायद ही कभी यह सुनने में आया हो कि किसी ऐसे नवोन्मेषी उत्पाद को डिज़ाइन कर उसका निर्माण किया गया है, जो न केवल समस्याओं को हल करता हो, बल्कि पर्यावरण के अनुकूल भी हो और उसमें अक्षय ऊर्जा का उपयोग किया गया हो। यह विशेषताओं का एक दुर्लभ सम्मिश्रण है और इसकी सराहना की जानी चाहिए।
