its a mutual thing that if Ganga will be clean in nature, tourism will also be increased. one thing have the potential to fulfill both requirements perfectly i.e. Hydropower Development with conditions like. every HP owner should allotted nearby stretches for maintaining the it pollution free & ecofriendly with repair of roads etc. it will result in flood control, uniform flow in river round the year, Biodiversity enhancement, approach & road development, and ultimately in Tourism enhancement.

First of all make those hill stations clean by involving the local resorts and tourists as volunteers, by giving incentives for the amount of bottles brought out from the forest = free dinner or make it as a pride work of saving the nature or even as a trend among the youth to post it on FB etc. Then please don't construct check dams with cement it looks urbanised and unnatural please do it with river rocks.

First and foremost step to be adopted is to strict declaration of the belongings the tourists desire to carry along with them to the places they wish to visit in the Himalayan region. And thereafter checking of the materials they bring back along with them. All consumables and their garbage to be deposited in a certified garbage collection center and their certificate of proper disposal to be obtained. Restricting the tourist movement and garbage along the river Ganga will have less impact.
