I am from Mumbai and Ganesh Utsav is celebrated throughout the city and state of Maharashtra in honor of Shri Ganesh son of Shiv and Parvati. Started as a civic movement by Lokmanya Tilak now this festival is celebrated by people of every cast and region. Along with gigantic Ganesh idols from mandals there are many household Ganpati idols are also worshipped. This 10 day festival starts on Bhadrapad Chaturthi to Chaturdashi. Main mandals include Lalbaug Cha Raja, Ganesh Galli, Khetwadi and more.

i love visiting vrindavan, mathura...varanasi. i am always saddened to visit varanasi...knowing it has been neglected by the powers that be...that is why i am so excited about Mr Modi's promise to clean up ganga and restore varanasi. i hope he can also focus on ayodhya next...i was there during diwali..and was saddened to realise indians worldwide were celebrating return of Lord Rama...but Ayodha itself was so neglected. We have to do something about the people who pester tourists...

After some hustle and bustle our captain triggered the engine. As we went further into the sagar, he seemed more closer, the one I was so excited to meet. He's an year younger to me in our city. I've been here for an year more than him. His arrival was late, but his existence dates back to 500 - 400 BC. :) He is tall - 58 feet high reaching out to the skies. There's a serene charm on his face. http://a-new-girl-in-the-nawab-city.blogspot.in/2014/05/a-hazy-summer-evening.html
