In trees, the common Gulmohar or Golmohur, a native of Madagascar, has superficial root system which sucks nutrients from the ground resulting the nearby area becomes devoid of grasses and other plants. Other ornamental, exotic garden trees with no ecological value are Leucaena leucocephala (Subabul), Tulip Tree (Spathodea campanulata), Yellow Bells (Tecoma stans), Eucalyptus spp., Poplar spp., Washingtonia & Chinese palms, Casuarina, Jungle Jalebi or Madras Thorn (Pithocelobium dulce) and Saus

In ecological perspective, most of our garden plants are derived from outside the geographical boundaries of our country and have little or no ecological value. Take for example, Dieffenbachia, Jatropha and Thevetia (Peeli Kaner) are notoriously poisonous and inedible, exotic Ipomoea spp., and Oxalis are prolific seeders while Parthenium is known for causing skin allergies and rashes.

I have also worked as a volunteer in Yamuna Biodiversity Park and imparted environmental education to school and college students visiting there. I have written blogs on various environmental topics and also coming up with my very own website on biodiversity www.ourbiodiversity.com. Through this post I request all of you to know more about native trees of India (more than 2000 species ) and go plant only natives!

Plant saplings and make india green are not only some bodywork, it is every body work , who need to breath oxygen ,they should plant tree, we should make changes in this generation, now we buy water bottles to drink, if we forget trees or planting saplings , we should buy oxygen cylinders for breath in future, this situation shouldn't come . so first we must create awareness to every one.

Let us get into the groundwork of managing the bio degradable waste. It is a resource wherein this waste can be converted into Biogas, Compost, Vermicompost and also into Electricity. I have done the necessary homework already and am in the process of getting the first Biogas Plant installed in Jalandhar.
