Concept

Mother's Day is a celebration honouring the mother of the family, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in society. This day is celebrated on the second Sunday of May every year and is an occasion to show your affection, respect and care towards your mother.

In the spirit of celebrating Mother’s day, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India is organizing a Contest inviting stories about mothers. The Contest shall commence from 8th May, 2016 for a month long duration, ending on 6th June, 2016.

The concept of this campaign is to promote the idea of children sharing anecdotes/ stories about their mother who has defied gender stereotypes, raised her voice against gender discrimination and championed the cause of gender equality and empowerment. This story should have left a long lasting impact and consequently led to a change in the mindset of her family and/or the community at large. The premise is based on the fact that relationship with mother is one of the closest and may be a strong influencer in shaping behaviours and attitudes of her children. A mother is also a source of inspiration and a role model for her children. When an anecdote/story is narrated about a mother, it can be used as a catalyst to bring about a positive change in societal mindset. This may further lead to a more gender sensitive society which recognizes the contributions of a mother, in particular and women, in general.

The objective of the contest is to engage with larger audience through sharing of stories about mothers, thereby encouraging inter-generational dialogue, sensitizing men and boys, being a role model for an empowered daughter. This also creates an opportunity for open conversations against gender discrimination, inequality and dis-empowerment, which in turn leads to a positive mindset change in the society.

Some of the suggested themes are gender equality and empowerment, gender discrimination, sexual harassment, domestic violence, social evils like dowry and early marriage and so on.

सुनो मेरी माँ की कहानी; कहती हूँ अपनी जुबानी माँ मेरी थी जब सधवा, नन्ही थी बच्ची सी दीवानी आया इक ऐसा तूफान, नहीं रहा वह कोई इंसान उभरी वो युवती महान, हुई कार्यरत वह नन्ही सी जान सुनो, माँ नहीं थी विदुषी; पर है यह विदुषी की कहानी बिटिया को बनाया विदुषी! डिग्री बिटिया की लेकर थी दीवानी कहती थी -टोपी वाली डिग्री दे मुझको; है उससे कोई महान? हजारों बैठ देख रहे थे; ठहर गया आसमान था उसका अब सम्मान माँ खडी रही देते ताली; झूम रही थी पीएचडी पाके सिखा रही थी मुझको... झूम हरदम बेटी पाके!

Mother- In mother word 'M' is important. when M is removed from the word it becomes other. 'M' is MAA, M is Meri maa, M is Most important person in everyone's life. MAA is the sweetest word. Mother is the most beautiful women in the eyes of her children. I feel comfortable when my mother is around me. she is more than my mother. she is everything for me. Always give me good suggestions and encourage me to respect all religion and motivate me to think big in life. she is good mentor for me.

My mom, She is poor, not Educated, She is in Different state where she is having language issue,5 Children’s.That much difficulties,But steel she stand to her children’s feature. She work as Housemaid and earn some money and educed her Children. Now I am working in multinational company. She is suffering with pancreatic cancer from last Seven year’s she had operated in 2009 and the treatment is continue. But steel she is fighting with cancer she believe in doing she take care of her diet.

MY MOM!A great personality!She is the strongest and beautiful lady who worked honestly for her children and make them feel proud of their upbringing.At the age of 72 years she is still working on share market and giving tips to brokers and investors.She is an astrologer too.Apart from this she works for the society and giving basic knowledge to the third generations also and motivators to all people around her.Salute Maa!#SunoMaaKiKahaani, #BetiBachaoBetiPadhao, #MinistryWCD, #MyGov, #MothersDay

Mom has always been the pillar of strength to my family. She took the finance department when I was a kid since Dad could not manage it effectively. The condition which was in chaos prior had improved considerably and even though she has not cleared her SSLC, she ensured both her kids - Sister and I would complete our Post Graduate and settle in our lives. She has raised us with good morale including not to lie and be a teetotaller. I salute her on this Mother's Day!! #SunoMaaKiKahaan

sunita apne maa ki akeli beti thi sunita ko n uske pati ko hamesha ek beta hi chahiye lekin sunita ko beta hua wo sunita n uske pati ka bohot jyada ladla tha ek din sunita ke pati ki death hogai fir bete ne paise n milane par sunita jabardast ki sunita bete ke pyar ke karan kuchh nai boli fir uski nani ne usko samajana chaha bete ne usko bhi dhaka diya lekin tab sunita ne apne bete pe hath uthaya pahilibar sunita ki maa boli jo beti apne maa bap keliye kar sakati wo koi nai kar sakata ..
