Manthan is a digital platform developed by the Office of Principal Scientific Adviser (O/o PSA) that shall empower various stakeholders to scale up the interactions with researchers/ innovators and facilitate R&D/innovations, share opportunities in various emerging technologies and scientific interventions as well as those that make a Social Impact. It will also provide an overview on science, technology and innovation expertise and strengths at a national level on social impact areas.

The Manthan platform promotes collaboration at scale between industry and the scientific research and development ecosystem to help meet India’s national targets and United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This platform aims to empower various stakeholders to scale up the interactions with researchers/innovators and facilitate R&D/innovation, share challenges focused on emerging technologies, other scientific interventions, as well as those with a social impact.

The platform shall facilitate creation of opportunities by solution seekers termed as Demand Side users and their redressal in the form of proposals by solution providers termed as Supply Side users. The Demand Side users shortlist and select proposals which are adjudged to be most aligned to the problem statement. Through collaborative efforts, the users on either side work towards converting these problem statements to success stories thereby materializing the objective of the platform. The administrator and moderator users assigned to the platform regulate the actions.

Manthan platform has built on 4 pillars:
• Pillar-1: Opportunity creation that includes a call for early-stage innovation, market-ready innovation, implementation projects, COE, Fellowships, etc.
• Pillar-2: Submitting proposals for collaboration, R&D and proposals submission against opportunities.
• Pillar-3: Innovation Exhibition—showcasing innovations like a virtual expo; partners can organise an exhibition.
• Pillar-4: Conference/Meeting Facility—providing a space for collaboration using virtual meeting rooms for organizing webinars, conferences, stakeholder consultations, etc.
