During the Rashtriya Ekta Divas address on 31st October, on the occasion of birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi announced that the Government of India proposes to launch a new initiative called ‘EK Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’. The programme aims to give a boost to the existing cultural connect between different parts of the country and enhance interaction between people living in different states.

Conceptually, the idea is that each year one state should connect to any other state in India on a reciprocal basis. As the Prime Minister himself explained through an example in his speech, "Haryana as a state can decide to connect with Tamil Nadu for the year 2016 and the activities that Haryana state can undertake may include popularizing the rich heritage of Tamil Nadu in Haryana through song festivals, book festivals, literary events, food festivals, tours of people of Haryana to Tamil Nadu and vice versa. In the year 2017, Haryana would connect to any other state and in 2018 to another state and so on".

The knowledge of the culture, traditions and practices of different states will lead to an enhanced understanding and bonding between each other thereby strengthening the unity and and integrity of India. The full address of the portion of the Prime Minister's speech, where he announced the scheme, can be accessed here.

We believe that such an initiative to connect people-to-people should be implemented with inputs from the citizens of India.

With this view, MyGov introduces the ‘EK Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ contest. Citizens are invited to submit their ideas and suggestions on how the programme should be structured so as to encapsulate its true spirit in all its various dimensions and capture the diversity that characterises India.

While the citizens are free to submit their ideas in kernel format, they can also expand in detail on the themes and sub-themes. Citizens may consider the following general themes on which to base their ideas, while submitting their entries. These themes are only indicative and participants are free to include any other points they deem appropriate.

1. Identifying role of central government and state governments in implementing the programme
2. Identifying the manner in which the governments, civil society and private sector can work together.
3. Specifying the Use of modern communication tools, including social media.
4. Documentation of success stories.
5. Making 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' a people's movement rather than a government programme.

Participants are encouraged to submit original and innovative ideas. An idea, merely rich in detail but lacking originality, would not score more than a very innovative idea explained briefly. However, if a very innovative idea is also explained in detail, it will naturally score higher.

Participants may submit their entries as attached PDF documents while providing a summary of their proposals in the comment section.

The winners of the contest will be awarded a certificate by the Prime Minister, along with cash prizes as follows:

1. First Prize - Rs. 100,000/-
2. Second Prize - Rs. 75,000/-
3. Third Prize - Rs. 50,000/-

The last date for submission is 25th December, 2015.

Mera bharat Mahan... Unity forever... To ensure the unity in diversity, lets encourage any Indian to be identified via unique "Bhartiya Nagaric Number" first. To promote and implement "ek bharat shreshta Bharat, I would recommend to encourage the interstate farming tourism with a subsidy as farmers are backbone of India. Once farmers cooperation increases, other cooperation will definitely increased. Here i can not elaborate the idea in detail but can share in detail via email.. if you like

Each and every state should use the education field to successfully propogate the idea. A separate subject regarding the state can be added to syllabus of every class in schools and college as a qualifying paper and taught to students. Apart from classes , compulsory visit by the students with aid of state and central govts to the particular state can be arranged. Enabling the students is enabling a generation...

My suggestion is that to enhance cultural exchange between different regions of the country both state and central govt should organise musical shows of famous artists to different parts of the country in their own language so that not only they become famous in other parts of the country but culture of different part come to be known to people living in other parts also.

Hello Sir, My idea is to banned all chocolates, chewing gums, gutakha, mouthfreshner wrappers and replace them with a biodegradable papers because in day today life whole country utilise this edible goods and litter around like hell , i know hell is a strong word but it does alot mess around which leading us to the hip of tonnes of waste which non biodegradable , This may increase the price of the things which are mentioned above but we will save our motherland from this massive devastation.

Mr PM here are a list of few things that we can do to connect the people from the four corners of our country. 1. Word of the month - for eg Bengal and Mumbai - One Bengali and one Marathi word to be word of the month. 2. Buddy initiative - During the festival to encourage people from different states to communicate and be buddies to each other for lifetime thru social media, email or personal contact 3. Food - nothing connects people than the love for food - a food festival is important

Student exchange programs should be organised in order to encourage students to learn about different cultures in our country. Such schemes to promote cultural studies should also be done on a higher level. For eg: Cross cultural tie up between two countries to promote each other's culture. #EkBharatShreshthaBharat #RashtriyaEktaDivad #MyGov

As Bharat is a vast country, and diversity is its specialty. Language is a most important means of communications, but main problem is that in small city like Mumbai, the language / ascent changes after every 80 kms , so just imagine difference in language , from one state to another, sometime you have to do actions or show drawings to get some information. To overcome tis obstacle, i recommend language shcools / translators located along with police booths for assistance.
