During the Rashtriya Ekta Divas address on 31st October, on the occasion of birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi announced that the Government of India proposes to launch a new initiative called ‘EK Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’. The programme aims to give a boost to the existing cultural connect between different parts of the country and enhance interaction between people living in different states.

Conceptually, the idea is that each year one state should connect to any other state in India on a reciprocal basis. As the Prime Minister himself explained through an example in his speech, "Haryana as a state can decide to connect with Tamil Nadu for the year 2016 and the activities that Haryana state can undertake may include popularizing the rich heritage of Tamil Nadu in Haryana through song festivals, book festivals, literary events, food festivals, tours of people of Haryana to Tamil Nadu and vice versa. In the year 2017, Haryana would connect to any other state and in 2018 to another state and so on".

The knowledge of the culture, traditions and practices of different states will lead to an enhanced understanding and bonding between each other thereby strengthening the unity and and integrity of India. The full address of the portion of the Prime Minister's speech, where he announced the scheme, can be accessed here.

We believe that such an initiative to connect people-to-people should be implemented with inputs from the citizens of India.

With this view, MyGov introduces the ‘EK Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ contest. Citizens are invited to submit their ideas and suggestions on how the programme should be structured so as to encapsulate its true spirit in all its various dimensions and capture the diversity that characterises India.

While the citizens are free to submit their ideas in kernel format, they can also expand in detail on the themes and sub-themes. Citizens may consider the following general themes on which to base their ideas, while submitting their entries. These themes are only indicative and participants are free to include any other points they deem appropriate.

1. Identifying role of central government and state governments in implementing the programme
2. Identifying the manner in which the governments, civil society and private sector can work together.
3. Specifying the Use of modern communication tools, including social media.
4. Documentation of success stories.
5. Making 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' a people's movement rather than a government programme.

Participants are encouraged to submit original and innovative ideas. An idea, merely rich in detail but lacking originality, would not score more than a very innovative idea explained briefly. However, if a very innovative idea is also explained in detail, it will naturally score higher.

Participants may submit their entries as attached PDF documents while providing a summary of their proposals in the comment section.

The winners of the contest will be awarded a certificate by the Prime Minister, along with cash prizes as follows:

1. First Prize - Rs. 100,000/-
2. Second Prize - Rs. 75,000/-
3. Third Prize - Rs. 50,000/-

The last date for submission is 25th December, 2015.

The eating habits & health of today's children has lead me to suggest this program. I would like to suggest that a drive to promote "Vegetarian Healthy Cooking" should be initiated at school level as a MUST DO activity where students of one state: 1) Learn to cook the "food" of another state under a project. 2) A competitive event at a city->state->national level could also be initiated.3)Through this with Govt's help many can setup Food business of another state in their own state.

In order to develop the states there should be a Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) between two states for a particular time. Government should fix the Month in which No tax (CST or Service Tax) is chargeable between the states. For example, if Kerala sells some products to Karnataka in March then there government should not charge tax on that particular month and vice versa. Rest of 11 months government can collect tax from these sellers and transport charges should be reduced.

When I visited Rajasthan a few years ago, I was fascinated by its history, culture, people and food. I then realised that if even a well-travelled person like me, knows so little about such a wonderful part of our country, what will be the situation for a person not so well travelled. The state of Rajasthan can connect with people of Karnataka dnd Bangalore and bring their culture amidst them. However, the program should be aim at ordinary people and not confined to 5 star hotels.

Hello Sir, Thank you for giving us this opportunity and platform for sharing our views and ideas. At present the use of Social Media is increased. People use the social media to get connected to each other. There is lot more to be done while on Social Media. I think this way all the Indians can come together and be proudly called as INDIANS rather than identifying themselves as State wise. My detailed idea is herewith attached. Best regards, Aanal Mehul Trivedi

People visit other states only if that state has some tourist attractions, pilgrimage centres, special business markets etc. Every state has to come up with their popular tourist spots, cultural activities etc to attract people from other states. When particularly two states are interacting, people shall be given concessional travel, stay etc for people of both the states. School/college trips may be organized. State level cultural functions with theme of other state can be organized. Music.

I want to make transparency in police organisation.Laws should be followed by the police also. They break traffic rules then peoples follow them. They drive without helmet on the roads. if rulemakers break the rules how can it be supposed to follow by the ordinary man. they takes bribe and free small scoundrels. Trained them like armed forces. Apply it in all states with same type of rules for alls.
