In India, historically, we have had different phone numbers to call police, fire and ambulance services namely 100, 102, 103 and other numbers for different kinds of emergency. It was realised that all emergency services should be converted into single emergency response system. The need was felt to bridge the gap between the police forces and citizens in the hour of emergency.

In lieu of the above, Ministry of Home Affairs designed “Nationwide Emergency Response System (NERS)” to cater to the growing demand for single emergency number across the country. The Department of Telecommunications has allotted the emergency number ‘112’ for this project. It is a centralized system with the IT infrastructure hosted on central cloud services. This system connects with the state level Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). A PSAP facility will run 24 hours a day, dispatching emergency services as required. Trained agents would be responsible for dispatching the emergency services.

The system is envisaged to take inputs from various sources such as mobile phone calls, landline calls, SMS, email, chat messenger, panic buttons in public transport, voice over IP, mobile application and internet of things devices. As soon as the input message is received in the NERS system, it would be attended and GIS/ GPS enabled vehicles would be dispatched. It’s a state of art system which would track the case till its closure by the emergency vehicle. The emergency would initially include police services for responding to the calls made by women in distress and later would be extended to medical, fire, disaster management and other such emergency services. Once fully implemented, any citizen calling for any emergency service across the country would connect with 112 and would get attended by the emergency responders.

The system aims to reduce the emergency turnaround time, provide single emergency number, provide efficient services to the citizen in distress, provide counselling to citizens and track the case closure. The system will benefit all citizens and provide safer environment in the country.

Citizens of India are invited to design a suitable logo for Nationwide Emergency Response System.

Cash Prize for winning logo is Rs. 1 lakh.

Last Date for submission is 31st August, 2015.

Sir One i have submitted you the logo. The logo i have created is simple because I follow the thought "simple living and high thinking". And the color combination i used is Black And Red. Black is associated with power, elegance, formality, death, evil, and mystery and Red is associated with emergency, blood, fire, heat, joy, strength, willpower and safety. So, I used the black and red color I am going to send it again and I thought that you like that thanks

The first aim of this logo is to show Emergency hence I have used Triangle to represent it.I have hence also tried to show our Nation by using tri-color. My main focus was always on showing that 112 will be an Emergency number and will replace all other emergency numbers with it. The important Emergency contacts are Police,Ambulance,Fire brigade which are shown in pictorial form. Hence I'll like to conclude by saying that this logo will definitely represent 'NERS' more effectively World wide

I, Anirudh Verma, student at IIT Roorkee have designed this logo defining the working of police force, fire fighters and health dept. in unity for the overall well being of an Indian individual. The no. 112 is highlighted for remembrance and keeping the logo simple and understandable. The no. depicts the all kinds of helps that can be sought on a single code. The happy and safe Indian has his hands held high gesture in the protective environment provided by the different public service depts.

112 no. has to be pressed by any citizen who seeks an emergency, provided that individual is having network in phone or internet or IP or any other kind. This is the most crucial thing here, and to put it in simple manner,in my logo, i have designed network in RED as it is colour for help (Ambulance, Fire extinguisher and other emergencies) and BLUE is the sky or air, platform for network. as "112" is important to convey, so it is perfect logo.112 can be used in Devanagari.
