The Government of India has launched 'Mission Shakti,' an integrated women empowerment programme as an umbrella scheme for women's safety, security, and empowerment, for implementation during the 15th Finance Commission period of 202l-22 to 2025-26.
The scheme aims to economically empower women while giving them control over their minds and bodies in an environment free of violence and threat. It also aims to reduce the care burden on women and increase female labour force participation by promoting skill development, capacity building, financial literacy, and access to microcredit, among other things.
'Mission Shakti' is split into the sub-schemes 'Sambal' and 'Samarthya'. While the "Sambal" sub-scheme is for women's safety and security, the "Samarthya" sub-scheme is for women's empowerment.
The components of the 'Samarthya' sub-scheme include modified versions of previous schemes such as Ujjwala, Swadhar Greh, and Working Women Hostel. Furthermore, the existing schemes of the National Creche Scheme for working mothers' children and Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) under the umbrella of ICDS have now been incorporated into Samarthya. The Samarthya Scheme now includes a new component of Gap Funding for Economic Empowerment.
The Ministry of Women and child development, in collaboration with MyGov, is hosting an activity where we are inviting citizens to show their creativity and create a suitable “Logo” that is easily relatable to the concept of Hubs at National, State/ UT and District Levels for its popularisation and broader outreach.
To know the mandate and functions of 'Hub for Empowerment of Women', the participants may refer to the Guidelines of 'Mission Shakti' available on the website of the Ministry at URL: https://wcd.nic.in/acts/mission-shakti-guidelines-implementation-during-....
