Digital India Program

Digital India, a flagship program of the Government of India, aims to “transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy”, the focus is on being transformative to realise IT (Indian Talent) + IT (Information Technology) = IT (India Tomorrow). This program centres on three key vision areas of “Infrastructure as a Utility to Every Citizen”, “Governance and Services on Demand” and “Digital Empowerment of Citizens”. This is an initiative of the Government of India to integrate the government departments and the people of India.

Vision of Digital India Week

To formally launch the Program, a one week program in the coming months comprising of awareness and communication events will be ear-marked as the Digital India Week to

• Effectively deliver the message of Digital India
• Expand visibility of Digital India by way of effective branding across various platforms with special focus on new media and public interface touch points.
• To establish credibility of message by ensuring value proposition in terms of demonstration of service delivery to citizens by converging existing and new services, usage of digital infrastructure under Digital India
• Sustained connection with people by identifying and engaging serious stakeholders through ICT platform and increasing the demand for e-services.
• Communication in vernacular languages as far as possible

Digital India Week Objectives

• Inform, educate and engage with citizens through organization of events at large number of Digital Points of Presence such as CSCs/ Post Offices, Schools, Gram Panchayats etc
• Connect all netizens through Digital Media campaigns and events
• Inform all about the vision, services and benefits of the Program
• Popularise and expand the reach of existing e-services, plan and launch new services
• Educate citizens on functional digital literacy, cyber security, cyber hygiene, ensure better utilization of Digital infrastructure during the DI Week and beyond
• Incentivize, motivate and connect citizens with the Digital India Program.

Proposed Activities for Digital India Week

During the Digital India Week, it is planned to conduct activities at different levels starting from the village level, block, municipality, sub-division, district, state and national level to make people in general and all levels of government in particular to communicate the transformative impact of the Digital India programme. In rural areas the Common Service Centres (CSCs) are proposed to be activity points. There is no counterpart of CCSs in urban areas.

Though volunteers, mobile phones, social media and radio effectively help in reaching out to the people, word of mouth plays an important role for communicating in villages, small towns and cities.

To achieve active participation, volunteers will be required. The objective of this activity is to involve maximum participation of tech-savvy youth in spreading the message about Digital India for the betterment of the country in a cost-effective manner.

Proposed Scope of Work for Volunteers

• Work as brand ambassadors for the Digital India programme in various outreach programmes
• Awareness: To make people aware about the importance of Digital India Program and digital services as well as to create awareness among citizens about cyber hygiene and digital literacy.
• Data Collection: All trained DI volunteers to collect data from citizen/students (villages, departments, Panchayat, CSCs, RWAs, PHC, Sub Centre, High Schools, Senior Secondary Schools, Colleges, Block Office, Community Centres etc.), when required.
• Training: As a part of Digital Literacy programme, trained DI Volunteers to train citizens and motivate them to take up digital literacy courses.
• Collecting Feedback: Enter feedback data at a Portal after various outreach programmes and activities of Digital India.
• Participate: DI Volunteer to participate in all DI outreach programme.
• Translation: Translation work may be given documents in English to translate in different Indian languages Activities with sequencing and timelines.

*All work will be assigned to the volunteers electronically.

The Department of Electronics & IT invites entries from interested participants to suggest ideas on the following (in addition to the above given Scope of Work)

(i) Define audience to be engaged as active volunteers (in addition to Students volunteers under National Service Scheme , Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan-NYKS etc)

(ii) Define different kinds of work that the volunteer needs to be engaged in (Roles & responsibilities of the volunteer)

(iii) What should be the incentive system for volunteers, preferably non-monetary

The need of the hour is to spread awareness about the Digital India Program, to engage different audience effectively, and help them understand what this Program will do for the citizen and help him/her connect with Digital India. The suggested entries should be practicable.

The last date for submission is 5th May, 2015.

The winner will be awarded a cash prize as under:

1. First Prize - Rs. 10,000/-
2. Second Prize - Rs. 5000/-
3. Third Prize - Rs. 2000/-

Audience NCC,NSS, Gramsevak trainee,BSw, engg students,state level computer course aspirants (MS-CIT in MH) Responsibility- resp. must be divided by their skills, as best in art for Mohalla Plays, painting- poster,banners. Role- to explain vision&mission and how we can connect with it in simple ways for a easy&safe life. Incentives- selfie with ambassadors, signed t shirts, 10days free state journey by rail & 1 months free training in interested field for best worked volunteers.

#MyGov 1.Computer Teachers of schools and colleges. 2.Volunteers should:1-Train people,like how to operate Computer. 2-Help citizens in opening accounts on social media,like email,through which they can communicate later.3-Preparing daily reports of how many people's they trained today. 3.Incentive should be:If "Student"then some scholarships for their Higher education.If "others" then some "prize" like like Mobile or Tab based on their.

Volunteer will do 3 (Three)types of Awareness work in #DigitalIndiaWeek 1.Educate people about Basics of Computer & Internet and Aware them to How Digitization will make there work easy 2.Educate people About Initiative taken by Indian Govt. & State Govt & Local Bodies provide details of working of each service which comes under Digital India Campaign 3.This is most Important part & Need to Educate people on it i.e."Cyber Security" Volunteer will make awareness about cyber security.
