One of the striking things seen in the west is its friendliness to the differentlyabled. It will be very useful to them if all buildings entrance, lifts, toilets are made wheel chair friendly. Also we should give them priority at all public and private places The country is judged on how it treats its weaker citizens. There should also be production of electric wheelchairs in our country. Costs should be subsidised .It will help them to be independant.

Medical Tourism is another field with endless opportunities. The govt should 1) Liberalise medical visas.2) Aggressively market our medical expertise the world over.3)Great scope from Middle East, Africa,Europe and North America due to political/ economic instability and large waiting lists in the hospitals.4) Indian healthcare personnel are known the world over. 5) Must try for good air connectivity between major Indian cities and abroad 6) Trained people to make stay easy for foreign patients.

We import most of hitech medical equipment in India. There should be a MEDICAL PARK that will co produce every medical equipment under collaboration with foreign countries..So we get high technology, excellent quality, cheaper price, easy availability, can export to other countries, and vast employment in India.. In view of huge health care expansion in pvt and public sector there is going to be a ready market for all these products.

Iron deficiency anemia is very common in India. Can be reduced to some extent by fortifying all flours-wheat and rice with iron at source. It can be made compulsory as with iodised salt. To serve eggs or soya protein at mid day meal programme for children. Will help children get protein in addition to calories. The in charge of all mid day meal programme has to involve a group of mothers of children studying in the school and taking the meals daily to ensure quality and safety of the meals.

While I am not a healthcare expert, I guess with increasing health insurance acceptability in Urban India, the companies offering health insurance be promoted to invest in rural healthcare infrastructure. The rural healthcare sector shall be integrated with Postal services for the delivery of essential medicines in rural areas, as well as using postal vehicles as "Ambulances" in emergencies.

We have a lot of physicians in India but do not have Physician-Scientists. We need to develop this category of physicians. All medical colleges, hospitals and biomedical research institutes need to be encouraged to develop training programs specifically geared towards doing this. Institute of Bioinformatics (http://www.ibioinformatics.org) is taking a lead in this by taking physicians and providing them research training in cutting edge scientific methodologies such as genomics and proteomics.

In 2012 my book on Technology supported Healthcare Services was published, the focus of study was Finland and Scandinavia. I'm enlisting few things which will dramatically improve the healthcare level, (1) Increase the number of Parks in residential location, (2) Equip them with playground for kids as well as group activity by senior citizens, (3) Provide grants to provide Physical Activity devices in schools and hospitals, (4) Healthcare information be portable to improve levels of care/service

IBM has launched a Cognitive Computing platform "Watson" which promises to transform healthcare sector (among others). It seems 1 in 5 diagnoses are incorrect or incomplete and nearly 1.5 million medication errors are made in the US every year. Watson will help Physician with better diagnosis & decision making. Healthcare Tourism is gaining importance due to lower medical costs in India. We should make our healthcare the best in the world with latest technology & Integrative medicine.
