Gotra originally referred to the seven lineage segments of the Brahmans (priests), who trace their derivation from seven ancient seers: Atri, Bharadvaja, Bhrigu, Gotama, Kashyapa, *Vasishtha,* and Vishvamitra. *once a woman gets married, her gotra supposedly changes to her husband's gotra*. under this system, one is allowed to marry their aunt's children. same of gotra share an equitable gene pool across all your Anomalies cousins. in Odisha dhobhi (SC), Tanti (OBC), Karana( general caste) all have same Nagasya gotra. Gotra comes from ancestery. SCs were not untouchable. Communities like Dhobhi (washerman),Tanti (weavers) by British & Muslims to destroy our gene mixing so that the same gene give genetically defective children. For harmonious country do *inter-gothra marriage* not religion or cast based. Caste is a very recent phenomena.
