The country is well endowed with many metallic and non-metallic mineral resources.  India is a leading player in respect of many non fuel minerals including, iron ore, bauxite, dolomite, lime stone and mica.  Mining sector (non-fuel) currently accounts for approx 0.5% of GDP. For accelerated economic growth on sustainable basis, this sector has to grow at a much faster pace to secure a higher percentage in the GDP.

Scientific, sustainable and transparent mining practices require well trained manpower.  Skill development not only enhances productivity and safety at work place, but more importantly, it prepares the manpower to adapt to the new state of art technologies. Currently this sector employs around 0.2 Million workforce which is estimated to grow to 0.3 Million in next 10 years.

Resp. sir, I have slight reservation regarding your campaign MAKE IN INDIA. from this make in india slogan it has come to my mind that the slogan should have been MADE IN INDIA instead. because MAKE IN INDIA carries a feelings that the foreign capital will be invested in our country and exploit our cheaper labours and lower costing to earn their profits more without giving strength to our indigenous infrastructure and skills. MADE IN INDIA will show case our own strengths for foreign markets.

for MAKE IN INDIA to be reality, it should start from the school days itself where students should be encouraged to think "what is what & what does it do".On actual there is no proper skill development courses running in schools from where student start thinking or doing some thing for himself or family or society. In Govt school we must have proper equipment, trainer, professional regular visit for skill development courses. To achieve this Proper funding n monitoring is required.
