In my view, the answer to the issue of bunkars in banaras is eCommerce. A potential tie up with Amazon or Snapdeal can give them a bigger and better market free of mediators. The problem of marketing will also be resolved. Also, consumers will get authentic Handloom clothes, which are no more available in the brick and mortar stores. All of them are selling Powerloom clothes and calling them Handloom clothes.

Humbly request that the KYC (Know your customer) Norms introduced by CBEC vide Customs Circular No 9/2010 dated 8 April 2010 be withdrawn as it is contradicting Director General of Foreign Trade’s process of issuing IEC (Import Export Code ). It is also negating EDI message exchange that takes place when DGFT issues and IEC and the same gets transmitted to Customs. IEC number is issued by DGFT after process of application and documentation. In spite of the IEC, CBEC is seeking additional documents as KYC. Similarly DGFT has also published a list of exempted categories from IEC example: Government department / agency / body or UN agencies, etc. These should automatically be exempted from KYC. Furthermore we should work towards a single identity reference rather than having multiple documents for identity proof
