Pls allow passengers to select the seat they want and coach they want. its like booking a ticket on bookmyshow where you can choose the seat you want. Also while booking tickets we get random seats and family rarely gets seat together. Instead allot the seats only after chart is made so that family can travel together. Thanks to technology and mobile all this is possible without any inconvenience to people

go from basic. Double the number of trains, double the seats. Use digital technology to provide info.Make inquiry website(not promotional). Mobile APP, Real time train tracking. These techs are available, Just organize and promote it properly. Make everything available on single screen. Put these screens everywhere on railway station apart from internet and mobile. Make the search engines more powerful.

Get rid of Tatkal tickets. Allow Airline like reservation system. Out of a total quota of a train for eg. 720 seats - let first 50% go @ original price. For every 10% seats increase price by x% and you can earn a lot of money. Use that money to ensure cleanliness and security and more facilities.

Remove the limitation of starting booking just 2 months before actual travel. A lot of times this is the principal reason people wait for that day and the site gets a lot of hits to ensure booking of 2 months later. Just do a small data mining on 2 dates (tickets done today for 2 months later) and you can find surprising results. It's really uncalled for practise.

Allow a small wallet in IRCTC so that people can transfer money to this wallet any time and they don't have to go to Payment Gateways while reserving tickets. This will reduce the traffic load. IRCTC is an excellent way for Government to earn. Increase the Service charge by Rs. 10. Ag. 5 lakh tickets are done per day. This will help earn 50 lakh per day. Add more INFRA. REMOVE bandwidth eating adverts from site, use light weight technologies HTML5 / REST to ensure min bandwidth usage.

Pl. introduce Month wise allocation of tickets to a particular train especially long distance trains. Every body can not plan well in advance(at present 60 days) for to travel. Say for example if any one wants to travel from Bengaluru to New Delhi or to Kolkata, he has to book on the opening day of the reservation otherwise he will not get confirmed tickets. Then comes waiting list and unnecessary tension for passenger till the time of travel.

Railways has to upgrade, TTEs should be given Pads / Tabs instead of manual system. Passenger details along with photo can be viewed, instant update of vacancy status will help waitlisted passengers in real time. Can generate digital receipts, to avoid malpractice. File complaints and get immediate assistance or solution. Many options and facilities can be provided once the system is in place.

Introduce railway debit ATM card so that people can transfer the money to this card and they can purchase ticket through this card. All the information should store in this card i.e. Journey transaction etc. we need to develop a system to purchase all the ticket i.e. including passenger train and platform tickets using this system. So when the TTR swipe this card they will known the ticket is valid. We can save paper, staff, etc. We will get advance amount also, save loans

Apart from ATVM, Best possible solution will be if a mobile app is provided wherein the tickets can be booked while the commuter is on the way towards Station will save much of their time standing in Queue & will reduce unnecessary rush at the stations. Railway Card can be loaded Online payment or at offline ticket counter. A SMS will be sent as soon as the ticket is punched in the App ( e.g. same way as currently SMS is received at registered mobile number while booking express train ticket)
