Sir, this bell weather which keeps India moving needs to be dusted, reformed, restructured & transformed. Digital India will have to be first implemented in the railways. Speedier links & updated information are needed. Corporate sponsors (through coach advts) can be roped in to bring in funds to accelerate / enhance digitisation. Professionals with good IT training should be employed. The network should be enhanced to look for security alerts / dubious addresses & given mobile numbers.

(a)IRCTC website needs a big overhaul. Bring in a design firm and change the design with better typography and design. (b) Also rendering performance of the website should be major criteria. Now it takes time to render certain section of the website. (c) Separate section needed in IRCTC to highlight the facilities for foreign tourists.

Flexible number of coaches in high demand rails .. these should be AC 2 and 3 tier coaches and can be booked via tatkal system. this will increase revenue efficiency of existing trains.

Senior citizens should not be forced to lower berths. If a Senior Citizen requests, say upper berth, she should be given upper berth if it is available. If there is no preference, then IRCTC may give them lower berths. Many senior citizens would like to lie down instead of sitting during daytime. With forced lower berth, these seniors are put to lot of trouble.

Waiting e-ticket must be consider valid while traveling and it should not be canceled automatically. As railway is charging same for waiting as well as confirm ticket, Can railway attach one or two sitting coach / bogies for wait listed passengers and allocate seat accordingly ? It will be more convenient for wait listed passengers.

The load on ticketing system can decrease only when demand supply equation changes. More trains, if not from main station atleast from outskirts should be increased( e.g. instead of Bombay central start trains from Virar or Vasai). With increase in trains automatically touts and agents will disappear.

Some technology must be used to run our trains timely even in foggy weather…… More efforts are needed towards solving the problem of delay status of trains, and cleanliness of trains and platforms along with development of bullet trains…
