Reserved tickets can be booked at Computerised Passenger Reservation System centres operated by Indian Railways and also online through website www.irctc.co.in. Unreserved tickets can be purchased from Computerised Unreserved Ticketing System counters and also Automatic Ticket Vending Machines which have been installed at major stations.

Suggest solutions for efficient ticketing system.

Sir, Instead of working for new projects like bullet train, we should work for up gradation of current system of railways. As we are going to start new things where we are not able to control what we have!! We should work for punctuality of current trains, up gradation of coaches, cleanliness, crossings/over bridges, reservation system etc.

presently tickets can be booked 120 days in advance & after that "tatkal" one day prior,gap of 119 days is huge.Many times trains gets overbooked in few minutes on 1st day of booking & people have to wait till "tatkal" day.This has given tremendous importance to "tatkal".In mean time paseegers tries all options to get tickets through "Agents" or otherwise options of travel.Pls reserve 25%quota for 15 days prior.It will reduce this black marketing ,undue importance to tatkal & flexibility to book

As a green initiative, the SMS system can be introduced for reserved tickets across the counter too like e-ticketing system. This will help us railways to save maximum on stationery account. Initially this may be applied for only reserved tickets. Later on based on technology development, this may be introduced to unreserved tickets too. Almost all the passengers' are now having mobile number. Hence, this may introduced very easily. Will railways consider this?

There is no pont on giving reservation tickets 4 months ago it will open door for balking tickets. Can't we just issued resevation tickets just a week ago and no cancelation or more then 50% charges on cancelation. So person buy ticket only if he/she won't to go and blacking of tickets will reduce

increase the general bogies in long route trains some people which are unable to get reservation they use this for emergency so they got lots of problems.

Very bad ticketing system... It should be change... Stop black marketing of ticket... One should not buy ticket from brokers...

In my opinion the first duty of railway system is made to serve the people in his emergency and profit is not the intention, but because of a long advance booking system actual needed persons comes in trouble and pays very large amount in flight. In which so many persons are poor but due to urgency they pay for flight. Railway has so many options to earn by advertisements he may increase the chages and the company shall pay for that. Hordings can also be provided along both side of the track.

I will again want to say if 3 months advance reservation System continue the chages of advance booking should be increased to avoid from the persons who blocks the seats by advance reservation and other paseengers comes in tension seeing seats not available and suffers so many problems.

In my opinion the advance railway bearth reservation time should be maximum 15 days, because generally making a very advance program of tour is very difficult and in last moment the journey is cancelled. If the advance reservation time will limited to maximum of 15 days so many problems of the passengers will reduced. Railway may increase 5 to 10 % fair if he wants to earn more against profit of cancellation charge income.

The ticketing system is pretty sorted on irctc. But in addition to the digital advancement,there can be a small step taken towards a cleaner railway. If there can be a small chained dustbin in every compartment people will not throw the garbage on the tracks. On every major station the bins can be cleaned and thus we can contribute to the swachh bharat abhiyaan.
