The Income Tax Department, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, in collaboration with MyGov, invites innovative ideas and constructive suggestions from citizens, taxpayers, professionals, businesses, students, and other stakeholders to strengthen taxpayer services and contribute towards building a more transparent, efficient, and taxpayer-friendly tax administration. This participatory initiative provides a platform to share practical ideas for enhancing taxpayer awareness, simplifying compliance processes, improving digital taxpayer services, and promoting ease of compliance.

Suggestions may also focus on strengthening service delivery, leveraging emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), improving grievance redressal mechanisms, enhancing taxpayer education and outreach, and introducing innovative solutions to improve the overall taxpayer experience. Your valuable ideas will contribute towards making tax administration more accessible, technology-driven, citizen-centric, and responsive, while supporting the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 through better public service delivery, participatory governance, and greater taxpayer trust.

I propose introducing mandatory Tax Literacy from Class IX as a basic life and financial-literacy module. Students should learn how taxation works, including Income Tax, GST, PAN, TDS, Form 16, AIS, ITRs and the basic filing process, through practical examples rather than memorization. The aim is not to make every student a tax professional, but to ensure that when they receive their first salary, they already understand the system they are participating in. Advanced taxation can remain optional, just as professional science and commerce specializations are.

Branding initiatives for vegetables and meat within the agricultural sector should be encouraged domestically. The government should aim to develop avenues for generating revenue through the agricultural sector, as India needs to elevate this sector to the next level. If an entrepreneur creates an opportunity to generate tax revenue by bringing an agriculture-related product under the government's tax ambit, the government should support such an initiative. Agriculture falls under both the Union and State lists; if a State government refuses permission to start a business, the Central Government should grant approval citing the potential for tax revenue—since tax revenue is what the government requires. A mechanism for this purpose should be established within the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT). Furthermore, a permanent committee should be constituted to identify new sources of tax revenue.

Non-executive workers in private organized-sector companies are struggling due to a lack of income that keeps pace with the rising cost of living. Since the government derives significant tax revenue from these organized-sector companies, it could offer tax incentives to honor the labor of non-executive workers. Specifically, a tax concession could be announced equivalent to the amount an employer contributes to the EPFO for one month for each non-executive worker. Receiving this "13th-month contribution" through the government would further boost the morale of these workers. Workers in the organized sector contribute significantly to the nation's industrial growth; honoring them in this manner would instill a sense of enthusiasm among the workforce.!  Beyond meeting tax obligations to the government, distributing shares to investors, and paying wages to workers, there is no scope to provide anything further to the workforce. So govt should help this issue

“Tax should not feel like an annual exam.” Introduce a personalised Tax Passport on the Income Tax portal that shows a citizen’s tax health, TDS, AIS, tax paid, refund status and deadlines in one place. Its AI powered “Fix Before Notice” feature would detect possible mismatches and explain how to correct them before they become notices. A simple “Explain My Tax” assistant would translate complex tax rules into plain language, making compliance preventive, transparent and citizen friendly.
