During the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ Radio programme, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi shared that a large number of people have been talking to him about the increase in usage of drugs. The Prime Minister described this as a very serious issue and assured that he will talk about the menace during the next ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio programme.

The Open Forums invites you to talk about the menace of drugs. Share how you feel this menace can be mitigated, what steps can be taken to get youngsters out of this. Drug addiction has become a major disease for our society today. Half of our population is trapped in this disease and it needs major attention of our government as well individual. Otherwise, it will destroy the future of our country. According to me, Children should be educated from 5th standard about the disastrous drug addiction. "No drugs" day should be organized every year in all private and government organizations. During the event, people should be inspired to say no to drugs.

A national survey of extend, trends and pattern of drug abuse in India was conducted by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment in collaboration with UNODC almost a decade ago. It had thrown up many unknown facets of the problem which formed the basis of several interventions. Time has come to have another broadbased survey to understand the magnitude and dimension of the problem including internationally successful interventions before throwing up vague suggestions. Its a global problem.

In my opinion, Tobacco is the entry point of addiction for drugs. I myself being a smoker, although not a heavy smoker, from an early age, I very strongly feel that the best solution to this i.e. drug addiction is banning any kind of production, processing & sale of tobacco & Tobacco products of any kind and form.

Eradication of drug menace can take place only if the parents inculcate good habits in their children during the formative years. The mother has an important role in developing healthy outlook towards life in the child as the father is often busy earning bread for the household. If each child is made to feel responsible towards the society in which he lives he would never take to such escapism. The teachers too have a definite role to play in making the child focus on nation development.

Why youngster trapped in drugs case easily? It may be because of stress, social acceptance or low willpower, many teens who are unhappy don’t know how to find a healthy outlet for their frustration, anxiety. To relive from all these they take a drugs as a medication.,misinformation can be the reason.., but Which steps to be taken first is arrest all the small dealers because drugs is easily access.Nearly 50 % of teens report that it’s easy for them to get marijuana, meth, heroin.

Every one know that drugs are sale open in Collage,School and Medical shops. All police and related department already know about it. But they can't do anything else because are taking lot of money for the same. As everyone know that all pubs which are running late night, they are also providing drugs for their customers and police department are getting their part money for the same. Now Government should make a special team which directly handle by PMO and media should show it daily.
