During the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ Radio programme, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi shared that a large number of people have been talking to him about the increase in usage of drugs. The Prime Minister described this as a very serious issue and assured that he will talk about the menace during the next ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio programme.

Drug menace is alarmingly increasing day by day. This is a menace which is taking inroads - specifically to the youth probably due to peer pressure and serving the requirements of the drug cartel industry with support from abroad. The eradication of drug menace is a war which is to be taken up on top most priority, by strongly taking action against the drug cartels and send the drug addicts to rehabilitation centres instead of taking action by sending them to jails.

We cannot stop drug addict in a single course of action of banning product, they can have the drug from a whitener too. To stop we have to educate and aware people about pro and cons of the drug. In schools and colleges, we should have a course or subject regarding that.

Whatever may be the cause, the Union Govt. should take immediate steps to ban tobacco in all form, all types of alcohol and have a vigilant eye on the manufactures & retailers of drugs used for intoxication. The subject is to be brought from concurrent list to the union list by way of amendment in the Indian Constitution. Further heavy penal provisions should be imposed for the wrongdoers. The annual revenue loss can be recovered in other ways. Safety of every citizens should be top priority.

Then there is need for thrill , which if allowed through exciting sports and entertainment parks can help release the frustrations. Here too politicians become overload and cut the nerve of efforts. Rise of meritocracy, sanguine helthy relationships and alert watch dogs will ensure that drug menace is uprooted out of our system. But needs long term and consistent vision.
