Continued: that might be caused due to this paradox. I feel, a uniform gst will seriously hamper the federal fabric of taxation discretions the state currently has. The problem is that is there is a single uniform gst, the relatively more developed states will progress further than the lesser developed because of the tax compliance. Kindly share your views people. Hope this meets the ears of the policymakers.... Cheers, yashaswi verma, Btech, IIT Bombay

Moreover, if bringing a GST is ofutmost importance to simplify the complex tax procedures, the state specific gst can phase into the currently decided GST value for the whole country. And slowly, as the states develop in due course of time, all of them can be brought on a uniform platform for a single universal GST.However, it can also be achieved by non uniform sharing of the tax proceeds from a uniform GST to get the common consensus of the states if this bill had to smoothly passed

One view about the recent GST Bill that needs to be taken up in the parliament can tweak a little. Since, all states have unequal needs and level of development, compromising on the single uniform GST might be regressive for some states that finance their initiatives through their indigenous complex tax structure. One solution is to have a State specific gst which may be deliberated according to their current tax structure and so forth for every other state.
