The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry initiated the process of formulation of a new Industrial Policy in May 2017. Since the last Industrial Policy announced in 1991, India has transformed into one of the fastest growing economies in the world. With strong macro-economic fundamentals and several path breaking reforms in the last three years, India is equipped to deploy a different set of ideas and strategies to build a globally competitive Indian industry. The new Industrial Policy will subsume the National Manufacturing Policy.

A consultative approach has been taken for industrial policy formulation wherein six thematic focus groups and an online survey on DIPP website have been used to obtain inputs. Focus groups, with members from government departments, industry associations, academia, and think tanks have been setup to delve deep into challenges faced by the industry in specific areas. The six thematic areas include Manufacturing and MSME; Technology and Innovation; Ease of Doing Business; Infrastructure, Investment, Trade and Fiscal policy; and Skills and employability for the future. A Task Force on Artificial Intelligence for India’s Economic Transformation has also been constituted which will provide inputs for the policy.

It is proposed that the new Industrial Policy will aim at making India a manufacturing hub by promoting ‘Make in India’. It will also suitably incorporate the use of modern smart technologies such as IOT, artificial intelligence and robotics for advanced manufacturing.

Hon’ble Minister of State(i/c) for Commerce & Industry Smt Nirmala Sitharaman will hold consultations with stakeholders, including industry captains, think tanks and State governments in Chennai, Guwahati and Mumbai. The Industrial Policy is likely to be announced in October 2017.

DIPP invites comments, feedback, suggestions from the public regarding framing of the new Policy.

The last date of submission of suggestions is 25th September, 2017.

I would request that Govt reviews for the relaxation of BCD for the products which are not manufactured in India, and promotes the assembly and manufacturing, generating employment and revenue, or else importing the units is loss to exchequer Rajeev Gupta 9599444747

Dear Sir, I am heading a FDI in India and the company plans to establish an assembly unit for a unique product which is manufactured in only three countries across the Globe-Guidance equipment for Horizontal Directional Drilling. the equipment is used for laying of OFC, oil& gas pipe, powers, sewerage & water pipes. tech is eco friendly. But the BCD for importing the Built up Units and spares for assembly is same, investing in assembly unit has generated employment in India , Rajeev Gupta

Suggestions: 1. Focus more upon manufacturing industries, especially the ones which creates lots of JOBS! 2. It must streamline&Support every aspect of opening and running a manufacturing plant, from getting clearances, suitable related tariffs, land acquisition& ease of hire& fire rules. 4 starters govt. can take a lead in BJP rules states. 3. Make-In-India should NOT be just Assemble-In-India! 4. First focus on states which already have good manufacturing ecosystem like Guz,Maha,TN!

Nameste. I am vandana ahuja. I have many suggestions. I want to decentralise the big industries private and govt both. Men should go in office and factories. Open small scale units for ladies only related to small parts of any product like car or defence equipments. These units run by ladies should have all facilities like creche, anganbadi. ITI,hospital and a temporary old age home types, so that ladies can manufacture something and take care of their parents and in-laws and children there.

Sad to say that I feel irritated every time when I see news of New Industrial Policy being drafted, while I hardly see any significant effect of last industrial policy. For how long we will be known as a country which just plan plan and plan. We urgently need to focus on executions and we need outcomes of these policies and they must come fast!! I feel like every government in India cheat its people by not focussing enough on creating jobs and industries in the country! PLZ ACT!!!!

sir i suggest that students who undergo industrial training should be tested on some good quality online examinations as in present scenario at many places manual exams are conducted which students some how manages to pass and do not take the whole training seriously. this in turn make then trained but little practical knowledge in hand.
