Unani medicine is a form of alternative medicine with origins dating back to several thousands of years. With foundations based on the teaching of Hippocrates and with contributions from some great Greek philosophers like Galen and Razes, this system of medicine was further developed in the middle ages by the Persians and Arabs. Unani medicine is based on the principle that the key elements fire, air, water and earth collectively play a vital role in maintaining a person’s health. It is believed that diseases result due to the imbalance of these four elements.

To effectively spread awareness about the benefits of Unani medicine, it is essential to publish informative content across all regional print media, share it extensively on social networks, and host special weekly programs on electronic media. Ensuring the active participation of all media houses in these efforts. These steps will lay the foundation for public awareness, with the remaining momentum likely to build organically.

Ayurveda focuses on metabolism, good digestion and proper excretion for effective treatment. Regardless of the differences, both Unani and Ayurvedic medicines are the safe, natural ways to treat disease. These practices are very popular as they ensure that a disease is being treated in the most natural way.

Unani medicine is based on the 'Humoral Theory', which presupposes the presence of four Humors - Dam (blood), Balghum (phlegm), Safra (yellow bile) and Sauda (black bile) - in the body.
