In the latest episode of Mann Ki Baat on 27th September 2020, Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi spoke about the art of storytelling. He mentioned that the history of stories is as ancient as the human civilization itself. ‘Where there is a soul, there is a story’.

As we are going to celebrate 75 years of independence, Prime Minister urged storytellers across the Nation to share stories of many inspiring events during the entire period of our enslavement. Especially, from 1857 to 1947, stories around every major or minor incident during this period can be introduced to our new generation.

“May this art of storytelling become stronger in the country, become more popularized and easier to imbibe - this is something we must all strive for”: PM Narendra Modi

Do you know of any inspiring event during the 1857-1947 freedom struggle that isn’t so well known? Maybe a long-forgotten hero who did not get as much prominence as he/she deserved? Maybe an incident which played a minor but important role in our struggle? A story you might have heard from a family elder, many years ago?

Tell us, we will feature your story for all Indians!

Share your story in the form of a video, audio clip, picture or essay.

Bal Gangadhar Tilak was the first Indian nationalist to embrace Swaraj as the destiny of the nation. Tilak deeply opposed the then British education system that ignored and defamed India's culture, history, and values. He resented the denial of freedom of expression for nationalists, and the lack of any voice or role for ordinary Indians in the affairs of their nation. We must first look at the freedom struggle of our Indian nation from the Mohammed Ghajini attack.

We must first look at the freedom struggle of our Indian nation from the Mohammed Ghajini attack. India's freedom struggle as early as the tenth century Has begun. Many historical tragedies will then be recorded. Those who plundered the wealth of the Indian people were the Islamic occupiers. Their evil deeds must be recorded in history. We should start writing about India's freedom struggle from Islamic occupation

There are many people who started the freedom struggle in India before 1857. Indians need to know the history of Nelkattum Seval Puli Devan, the king of Tirunelveli district in the state of Tamil Nadu. Small Pulidevan, the king of the country, fought against the British from 1756 to 1767. The British arrested Pulidevan by intrigue. King Puli Thevar, who fought valiantly with enemies such as Robert Clive and Yusuf Khan (Marudanayakam).

Maveeran Alagumuthu Kone (1710–1757). It is wrong to say that the period of the freedom struggle began after 1857. One hundred years before that Maveeran Alagumuthu Kone (King of Yadav) fought for Indian independence. Fought against the British. Historians do not pay due respect to him because he is a Hindu. Maveeran Alagumuthu Kone opposed it when the British set foot in India. He was shot and killed by artillery. His sacrifice should be recorded in historical books.

The Marudhu Pandiyar brothers (Periya Marudhu and Chinna Marudhu) ruled Sivagangai, Tamil Nadu towards the end of the 18th century. The Marudhu brothers were the first to issue a proclamation of independence from the colonial British rule from Trichy Thiruvarangam Temple, Tamil Nadu on 10 June 1801, more than 56 years before what is generally said to be the First War of Indian Independence which broke out mainly in Northern India in the year 1857.
