We HAD Khadi Ashrams in the past... WHY not TODAY???? It should be mandatory to have at-least 1 Khadi Showroom in one area, where various Khadi products are displayed and sold on nominal rates ... may be NO profit No loss basis to make them popular in the initial days...

*Intertwine/integrate different states' artistry works like embroidery of different states, mirror work etc with khadi and make wearable materials and gift and utility articles with these combos-more employment for villagers, too
*cheaper khadi wearables for villagers and financially not better-off people in cities, towns
*better&faster technology is a must for khadi production

*Designer Khadi-tie up with fashionistas/fashion designers for NRI products-who won't mind paying more for designer clothes.
*khadi wearables have to be thick or thin as per the climatic conditions of the nation where it is to be sold-eg. cold countries-thick, tropical-thinner and light
*Jaisa desh waisa besh-design as per what NRIS like to wear in nations they r living in-current fashion trends worldwide to be integrated with khadi products-wearable, utility items like bags, purses, wallets,

The Govt also needs to upgrade the look of Khadi outlets.......I have visited the Mumbai outlet at DN Road and in Kolkata both stores look like stores locked in 1947 era......the lights are dim the show cases have scratched glass products are not visible...the show cases are not properly decorated...non-curteous staff, dust and cobwebs......I felt very sad when at Khadi stoe in DN Road Mumbai one foreign tourist said the store is still the same when Queen Elizabeth last visited India

Indian Railway Network and Indian Airports provide ample opportunity for showcasing 'Khadi' to Millions of domestic and foreign tourists coming in, going out of the country or travelling the length and breadth of our country.........a 'KHADI' corner / store at key railway stations or airports can show case to the country and foreign tourists what 'Khadi' stands for and keep the awareness levels high.......remember every purchase also adds to word of mouth and help increase awareness

How to create Niche - First check what thoughts and products get associated when ''KHADI' is mentioned is it just fabric or a repertoire of products, emotions for country.
Next understand what is the expectation from Khadi products
Next understand what makes them buy and or what is stopping them from buying KHADI today
Next is there any special need/benefit they seek from Khadi which is not being met today
Answers will provide directions for creating a Niche for Khadi among youth and NRI's
