With globalization and liberalization of Indian Economy in last two decades, numerous domestic and international companies have been drawn to investing in new modes of business/ business models targeted at the huge domestic market especially in the consumer goods & services. Direct Selling is one of these modes where goods /services are sold directly by the producer/service provider to the consumers. For this different models such as Multi Level/Network marketing, Door to Door Selling, Online Selling, Tele-shopping are being used. These practices are new and different from traditional retail through shops. In the absence of a proper regulatory framework, retail through these models leads to consumer grievances, trader’s issues, slow growth of the sector etc.

The aim of this discussion is to deliberate and evolve views of all stakeholders for providing a regulatory framework to the sector.

Dear sir, 1.On line sales are good concept. But the quality of products, service after sales, the cost, the guarantee, shipping, door delivery, must be of international standards. 2.RETURN OF THE PRODUCTS TO THE SELLER, IF ANY COMPLAINT FROM THE CONSUMER, SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF AS IN USA AND EUROPE. 3.In Bharatham, THE COURIER COMPANIES CHARGE HEAVILY, AND THE CONSIGNMENT IS NOT DELIVERED AT HOME IN THE RURAL AREAS, CONSUMER IS CALLED TO THE OFFICE TO COLLECT.

1. The regulation should be to promote the selling rather curbing the DS. However, the consumer interests be protected through these regulations.

Now a days online purchasing is a big business buyers are interested in this as they think they gets best value for the money. Is it so? may be in reality it is not there all online stores have a buy back facility but no one knows daily/weekly/monthly what is the return from buyers in terms of % or value. IF any online merchants gets whopping returns and there refunds are not systemic than individual will be in pain. There is no systematic guide lines available as of now from Central /State Govt.
