With the GST coming into effect from 1st July, 2017, the biggest indirect tax reform of independent India, is going to transform the way indirect tax is administered in this country, impacting not just businesses but also the common man. GST is a tax on consumption of goods and services, which is levied at all stages right from manufacturing up to final consumption, with credit of taxes paid at previous stages available as setoff. It is going to remove the tax-on-tax effect through separate Central and State tax laws. In a nutshell, under GST, only value addition will be taxed , hence, reducing the burden of tax to be borne by the final consumer.

The most fundamental change in GST besides the consolidation of multiple taxes, is the use of a robust shared IT infrastructure in its operations. All the forms related to registrations, filing returns and other related activities can now be done through the GSTN Portal.

GST will help build an economically stronger India, with 'One Nation, One Tax, One Market.'

Despite many hurdles GST is launched on 1st July,2017. Exactly, 2 years after the Digital India was launched on 1st July,2015. The foundation stone of GST was laid on that day itself. Because without network connectivity, GST would have been difficult to implement across the length and breadth of the country. As Honorable PM mentioned in his speech during launch of GST at parliament, One Tax One Nation from Leh to Lakshadweep and from Itanagar to Ganganagar. This reflects foresightedness of PM

Goods & Services Tax is a comprehensive, multi-stage, destination-based tax that will be levied on every value addition. To understand this, we need to understand the concepts under this definition. Let us start with the term ‘Multi-stage’. Now, there are multiple steps an item goes through from manufacture or production to the final sale. Buying of raw materials is the first stage. The second stage is production or manufacture. Then, there is the warehousing of materials.

And with 2% CST. which comes to Rs.1,60,000.00 only. Now the situation is changed, and we have to pay 28% GST. THE Amount comes to Rs.22,40,000.00 which is very big amount. And we get payment after 90 days. How to overcome the situation? Our items are ready and are under final inspection.
