The outbreak of the global pandemic COVID -19 presents a challenging time for everyone around the world. Not only is this pandemic a serious medical concern, but it also brings mixed emotions and psycho-social stressors for all. There are emerging mental health concerns with specific focus on Children, Adolescents and Youth as they more vulnerable to heightened level of stress, anxiety and fearfulness, along with a range of other emotional and behavioral issues. COVID-19 has also brought new stressors on Teachers and Parents hampering their capacity to provide positive support to their wards. While it is important to focus on continuing education on the academic front, we must give equal importance to the mental health and well-being of the students.

Manodarpan, an initiative of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, under the AatmaNirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, aims at mobilizing psycho-social support to help Children, Youth, Teachers and Parents country-wide in a comprehensive and multimodal manner during conditions like COVID-19 and after. For more information, please visit www.mhrd.gov.in/covid-19/

MyGov in collaboration with the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, hereby invites citizens to share ideas and inputs to combat the psycho-social stress on School & College Students, Teachers and Parents, caused due to COVID-19 pandemic. Selected comments may be featured on social media.

Last date of sending us your inputs is 21st August 2020

Respected Sir, As a mental health professional working in the field of education, I am directly witnessing the psycho-social impact of COVID on students, teachers, and parents. My suggestions to combat the issues are: Each city must have a 24/7 Suicide Helpline. A list of verified mental health professionals (minimum qualification of MA in Clinical or Counseling Psychology) from each state should be made available to the public on the mygov website. Webinars for awareness.

Respected sir. I believe that there are already so much of stress at the part of students atleast they must be kept free from typical study They must be allowed to choose their online course of their own choices and thus they can learn without burden. There should no exams this year instead they must be judged according to the course they have chosen i.e. according to the assessment done by the course provider.

The government can recruit students of Psychology in Mental Health advocacy to eradicate stigma around issues mental health and create a positive social attitude around mental health and related issues. The government should give a proactive role to the students of Psychology so that the country can cope with the 800% deficiency of mental health workers and at the same time ensure gainful employment of students who take up psychology and create a society where there mental health is top priority

Respected sir, As part of manodarpan programmes, our Government should start different online competition programmes for students through different media. This will help the students to engage in different activities like painting, essay writing, development of new ideas(school level),etc should be done. Any kind of mobile application can introduce to the students for this programmes. It will help them to reduce the stress level as well as loneliness.

Greetings! I believe students can relate to students more, Moreover the students who have completed/are studying an UG/PG in Psychology can be included in this novel intiative to develop a community of indivials who are sensitive and aware of psychological issues and can assist in rendering psychological services. This is a two-pronged strategy which will gainfully employ students studying psychology and give them job assurance alongside develop a cadre of trained mental health practitioners.

Respected Pradhanmanthriji , This covid pandemic has passed all students but teachers failed.Parents not interested to send children to schools. But A.P. govt very enthusiastic in opening schools.Even in this covid time from July13 as G.O.151, teachers categorised as Mon&Thursday teachers Tuesday teachers, then Nadu-Nedu school teachers daily attending with biometric attendance. In the same way give a G.O to private school teachers also to attend schools.Atleast they get their Salary.
