Lack of livelihood opportunities for tribal people is one of the chief causes of their backward status as compared with the other social groups. This issue is aggravated by the high rate of displacements faced by tribal people due to various industrial projects etc., which also causes loss of livelihood for them among other things. This Ministry has been taking various steps for facilitating sustainable livelihood for tribal populations in different sectors. Stress has been given on vocational education and formal technical education for tribal youth. States are being encouraged to take upskill development initiatives for tribal youth with at least 50% of such activities to be oriented for women.

Through MyGov, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs seeks suggestions/information from all sections of the society regarding various livelihood possibilities for tribal people, availability of skilled/unskilled manpower still unemployed, various traditional skills available with the tribal population, new trends and interests among tribal youth, corresponding skilling needs and possibilities etc.

Tribal people are best known for their unique hand work of making different kinds toys, cloths, food varieties, musical instruments, furniture(making elegant furniture using leaves of tree and wood) and decoration items of house. unfortunately, there is no sufficient platform for them to sell their products globally. govt. can start an e-portal by placing their products to attract global customers. govt. can also give information thru sms of demanding products that to be make to get profits.

Construct condominiums in every district for renting out @fair market rates to Tribals, who migrate to take-up their first job in urban areas. Let the rental period be not more than 3-4 years. Since Tribals don't have any assets, it would be difficult for them to find rental accommodation as first time migrants into towns and cities. Such Condominiums be developed by private sector builders, government entities or NGOs with some incentives by local governments.

Livelihood opportunities for the tribals is GOING WAYWARD at present. It is altogether controlled by people in the power for demonstrating his level of achievement as required by his boss. It should mean to add value to the existing livelihoods of the poor without undermining environmental or other issues associated

Dairy farming is best suitable and profitable business for Tribals. Tribals are provided 1-3 days training in managing cattle and cattle farms. If possible, govt should provide land on lease for 3-5 year to them. Milk, Milk Products sales proceed would be enough to support their family. Dairy cooperative would be answer for their livelihood.
