As part of the 'Bharat Ki Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' celebrations, a series of events are being organized by the Government of India to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence.

Through this MyGov activity, we aim to revisit history and acknowledge our local heroes whose struggles during the Freedom Movement have not received prominence in the conventional storyline. Let's raise awareness about our freedom struggle & the unsung heroes associated with it. It’s time that the contributions of fighters like Veer Gundandhur, Velu Nachiyar, Bhikaji Cama, etc. see the light of the day.

This is your chance to tell the story that must be told and honour the freedom fighters who have played an important role in making our nation free.

Share the stories with all the details and celebrate Bharat Ki Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav with us.

Submission of Entries:

To remember the unsung heroes of Freedom Movement it will be good to have a timed digital display in the main waiting are our airpots and railway stations with the pictures of these great men and women along with some details about them. Also it will be good to have a murthi or picture of Bharat Matha as soon as people clear customs in International Airports and walk into India. Especially NRIs and OCIs can take a moment to offer their respects at her feet. Some soil/tilak/kumkum at her feet would be plus for those who want to decorate their forehead with her blessing as soon as they land.

Our independence was hard fought. The British ruled over our lands for a long time. But then, there are heroes, aren't there? There are always heroes. The ones who stand up and fight. Some get the spotlight while some stay in the dark and contribute just as much as the others. This bodes true for India's freedom fighters as well. For those who fought equally hard but never got any share of the limelight, because they simply never cared. Their only focus was seeing an independent India. But as citizens of this country, we should know about some of them. Here are some freedom fighters you probably haven't heard of: Kanaiyalal Maneklal Munsh Also known as Kulpati, Munshi was mighty active during India's freedom movement, especially the Quit India Movement. He was the founder of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. The number of times he was arrested by the British regime showed his dedication and passion for an independent India.
