As part of the 'Bharat Ki Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' celebrations, a series of events are being organized by the Government of India to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence.

Through this MyGov activity, we aim to revisit history and acknowledge our local heroes whose struggles during the Freedom Movement have not received prominence in the conventional storyline. Let's raise awareness about our freedom struggle & the unsung heroes associated with it. It’s time that the contributions of fighters like Veer Gundandhur, Velu Nachiyar, Bhikaji Cama, etc. see the light of the day.

This is your chance to tell the story that must be told and honour the freedom fighters who have played an important role in making our nation free.

Share the stories with all the details and celebrate Bharat Ki Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav with us.

Submission of Entries:

Hazra is freedom fighter who never received her fair share of fame despite sacrificing her life for the country's freedom. She was part of the Quit India Movement and Non-Cooperation Movement. During a procession against the British, she was shot thrice but that did not deter her from marching with the tricolour in her hands. She also kept shouting 'Vande Mataram' till she breathed her last.

Nivedita They are for women's education and the country will reach the path of development only through the freedom of women. Once Bharathiar Nivedita came to meet them. Nivedita they did not bring your wife? He asked. Bharathiar said she was going to come here and do what she could. Nivedita rebuked them. Then the women were given equal rights in the highlands because that is why the highlands have developed. The development of women is the path of development of the country. Go and get women to participate in the freedom struggle, said Nivedita. Bharati also fought for women's emancipation for girls' education accordingly.

There are so many freedom fighters of our country but I would like to tell you about Shaheed. Bhagat Singh. One such hero is Shaheed Bhagat Singh. ... Bhagat Singh (born on September 28, 1907) was one of the most famous youth revolutionaries of the Indian Independence Movement, who at the very young age of 13 was a part of Mahatma Gandhi's non-cooperation movement against the British.

"Unsung heroes of Freedom Struggle " There were many unsung heroes in Indian freedom struggle. One of them is Jayi Rajaguru. Jayi Rajaguru was a prominent figure of the Indian Independence movement in the state of Odisha. Whilst collaborating with the Marathas to recapture the British occupied province, a Maratha messenger got caught and the plan of Jayi Rajaguru got exposed. The British attacked the fort of khorda and captured Rajaguru. He was later sentenced to death by tying his legs to the branches of a banyan tree. There were so many unsung heroes like Birsa Munda, Lakshmana Nayak and even, a 12- years old boy, Baji Rout was one of them. We must honor their sacrifice and aim to live together in harmony and peace. These unsung heroes are also the reason we live in a free country.
