As part of the 'Bharat Ki Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' celebrations, a series of events are being organized by the Government of India to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence.

Through this MyGov activity, we aim to revisit history and acknowledge our local heroes whose struggles during the Freedom Movement have not received prominence in the conventional storyline. Let's raise awareness about our freedom struggle & the unsung heroes associated with it. It’s time that the contributions of fighters like Veer Gundandhur, Velu Nachiyar, Bhikaji Cama, etc. see the light of the day.

This is your chance to tell the story that must be told and honour the freedom fighters who have played an important role in making our nation free.

The National Flag of India made by Hemchandra Kanungo on 1907 in Paris. Vinayak Damodar Savarkar described about this flag in his "Keshari" magazine in 1907. A book edited by Calcutta University in 1986 named "NATIONAL UNITY TWO" (Perspective and Problems ). There is a clear mention in a part of page 217 of the english book titled - "But when he asked about Hem Chandra Kanungo on his return to India, Kanungo wrote to him a letter. In my book ( i. e, Bangla-ey Biplab Prachesta ) I have not claimed Credit as the designer of the national flag, though I had made it entirely by my self' (Bharater Dwitiya Swadhinata Sangram, P-222), Kanungo tells us in his book that he had made the flag in Paris for Madam Cama, when she was going to attend the Stuttgart Congress." My humble request to you as the Prime Minister of the country is to immediately take the initiative to add the name of Hemchandra Kanungo. His mud house should declared HERITAGE HOUSE as soon as possible.
