As part of the 'Bharat Ki Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' celebrations, a series of events are being organized by the Government of India to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of India’s Independence.

Through this MyGov activity, we aim to revisit history and acknowledge our local heroes whose struggles during the Freedom Movement have not received prominence in the conventional storyline. Let's raise awareness about our freedom struggle & the unsung heroes associated with it. It’s time that the contributions of fighters like Veer Gundandhur, Velu Nachiyar, Bhikaji Cama, etc. see the light of the day.

This is your chance to tell the story that must be told and honour the freedom fighters who have played an important role in making our nation free.

Share the stories with all the details and celebrate Bharat Ki Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav with us.

The unsung freedom fighter from our"azadi" are not even unsung even ignored for no purpose just because we don't want to know any other freedom fighter then Mahatma Gandhi, bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose and etc. It's good to know them but let's know more. I am talking about vinayak damodar vavarkar also called "veersavarkar" as he was contented in a jail cell during British colony in a celleular jail we commonly know it as Kala Paani. The life there is not easy we live in our homes .

Accamma Cherian, In 1938, the Travancore State Congress was formed and Accamma gave up her teaching career to join the struggle for liberty. Accamma led a mass rally from Thampanoor to the Kowdiar Palace of the Maharaja Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma. The British police chief ordered his men to fire on the rally of over 20,000 people . Accamma cried, "I am the leader; shoot me first before you kill others". On hearing the news M. K. Gandhi hailed her as 'The Jhansi Rani of Travancore'.
