India can save >5000 crore money transfer to US Giants every year by just imposing a govt restriction on maintaining compatibility of the (MS Office) apps and operating systems for 10-15 years.
e.g. Restriction "All the electronic communication with GoI offices/Univ must be compatible with MS Office 2003 (.doc instead of .docx)" could have saved a lot of troubles & money.
Teach Linux in schools, Develope Operating System, or at least fight the US Giants agaisnt the PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE.

I like to suggest a low cost project that will immediately benefit public and reduce pollution. All city Buses be provided with GPS tracking system and bus location information can be provided to Public thro smartphone App, similar to Uber and Ola cab service providers do. Commuters can find running location of his desired bus and can thus estimate waiting time. It will be of immediate use to bus commuters in the city.

A 20 yr vision - focus on community enablement through convergence of biotech, engineering & governance. We can focus on micro electronics & bio-electronics for pest control, non-invasive monitoring & measurements, security. India can become a world leading producer of cost-effective nano and micro devices for almost all applications.

1. % of procurement should happen from startups. Even if there is risk of long term supply
2. This should be done through single window process and not through middlemen.
3. got should declare the products they want to procure locally and give chance to startups to design and develop products. ..

There have been quite a few inventions, that have changed the way we live today -Transistors, Micro Processors, Artificial intelligence, Telecommunication etc. We now need another invention. We still use automobiles that use a technology invented in mid 40-s.
One thing that comes in my mind is a paint with embedded cells to generate electricity. How nice it will be that a patch of paint on my car top will be enough to provide me physical mobility.
