Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has prepared a strategy paper entitled “National Strategy on Additive manufacturing (AM)” for promoting various verticals of the AM sector, including machines, materials, software and designs to leverage the untapped business opportunities that will unfold in the near future.

Additive manufacturing (AM) is the digital revolution of industrial production that embraces innovation in digital processes, communications, imaging, architecture and engineering to provide digital flexibility and efficiency to manufacturing operations. India needs to adopt an integrated approach towards this emerging technology in all segments including defence and public sectors, especially within the nation’s small, medium and large-scale industries to keep pace with rapid global manufacturing prowess.

Considering the importance, the strategy aims at promoting the creation of a conducive ecosystem for design, development and deployment, and to overcome technical and economic barriers for local manufacturers to seamlessly adopt Additive Manufacturing. This is also expected to facilitate the creation of a support base of domestic manufacturers for setting up of operations with supporting ancillaries in India by foreign companies as well as Global AM leaders.

The draft strategy document may be accessed at - Click Here!

You may share your valuable inputs/comments/suggestion on the draft latest by 27th December 2020.

The AM aids prototype sample production before rolling out the series production. The raw material is the barricade for the engineering developments since the cost is high. The mass production of Polymer raw material in India world promote engineering developments making trial and error methods cheaper. Hence even small scale manufacturer can invest on prototype before investing on moulds after fine tuning the mechanical dimensions. The 3d printing machines though costly does not affect much.

the most important aspect of additive manufacturing is the requirement of engineering and technician level workforce for additive manufacturing. for quality additive manufacturing, excellent skills in CAD modeling and simulation tools, knowledge of mechanical and thermal science and 3D printing skills. all these tools must be available in colleges and universities for students to be trained professionals. provision for solar reprep printing must also be included as India can be a leader in solar

WE CAN reuse of waste re-filtered water for gardening, every complex or house has septic tank & soak pit , no other option for soak pits SO WITH present style underground drinking well water get contamination,we need to develop tank based filtration which can segregate at mouth other waste & purify water from bad odors, thereafter water can be used for garden or placed through soak-pit , many issue will get solved so also overflow/block repair maintenance cost....cont in cmment

Cont'd ---These sculptures should be printed with finest details to show what technology can do. And placed in higher primary schools & collages covered with glass .This is my idea don't know whether it can give impact. Our education system should change to more passion based to various technology fields for a stronger, developed INDIA
