The Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, under the Sagarmala Programme, intends to create an ecosystem for the development of Ro-Ro (Roll-on, Roll-off) ferries and waterway transportation throughout the nation. When compared to traditional modes of transportation, this method of transportation offers a number of advantages, including shorter travel distances, cheaper logistics, and less pollution.

The draft guidelines aim to standardise and streamline the development and operation of ferry services, as well as, promote ease of doing business by reducing delays and conflicts, Additionally, guidelines will aid in boosting private players' confidence, hence expanding their involvement and encouraging healthy competition in such ventures.

The draft of Guidelines for Operationalization of Ro-Ro and Ro-Pax ferry service along the coast of India is issued for public consultation for seeking feedback and suggestions.

respected sir, draft bill is good, cleaning all points, but the ferry service should provide as per , safety standards, as per government of india highest standards, food and services as per HACCP , international standard, all services run on time, cleaning and facilities on ferry as per international standards, ferry vessel as per IRS standards, they have to time bound, and ferry terminal should available as per international standards with all facilities in all major and minor port , india east cost and west cost. tickets must available online mode and offline from every corner of india, like rail or air. passengers feed back always AAA for renewal leasing process. this ferry service will change indian transport system and also reduce work load on rail, road and air. it will be cheap transport, so all new facilities, going to start in india will be high standards fulfilled the demands in future. Ro-Ro ferry service since ancient times water was most preferred and cheapest mode of transport but with the invention of air transport and reduction in time of travel water transport lost its popularity. But for tourism and internal transport can be a viable option as it is cheaper than road transport and has aesthetic and tourism applicability. So if such services are used for coastal states of India not only it will increase connectivity but it will also have an strategic and military significance apart from increasing tourism industry.

There should be a special cell headed by a parliament member and Senior Civil Service cadre to operationalize the program, first time ever seen in Indian belt. This will cover both passengers and transportation facilities in a nominal economic favour. It has wide impact on people mobility, people who are away from high cost fares, widen social links, economic fetch, easy and comfortable. It boosts Indian coast and minimise traffic and maximum potential to peoples mobility.

Respected Sir, introducing Ro-Ro services can be a big advantage for the water transport industry. It can lessen the traffic on roads and local and metro trains .It will also help in developing tourism .It will also provide employment to many youth.Small cafeteria’s can be started in these ferry’s which will be an attraction for the passengers and also give employment to many. Thanks
