The General Aids to Marine Navigation along the Indian Coast is administrated by Directorate General of Lighthouses and Lightships (DGLL) as per Lighthouse Act, 1927. Over the period of time maritime sector has undergone massive change. There have been enormous technological developments in the field of Aids to Marine Navigation. To incorporate the global best practices, technological developments and India's International obligations in the field of Aids to Marine Navigation, the Draft Aids to Navigation Bill 2020 is prepared to replace existing Lighthouse Act 1927.

The Draft Aids to Navigation Bill (to replace Lighthouse Act 1927) is hereby circulated for comments of all concerned.

Misinterpretation of the Lighthouse Act: It is often seen that the Act is misinterpreted by the custom department under the Customs Act of 1962 and has led to incorrect collection of a huge sum of light dues thereby putting financial & economic burden upon citizens.Modern Technologies: The role of authorities regulating and operating maritime navigation has changed drastically along with the advent improved aids to maritime navigation. The Indian Coastal region is an open Area and we need to Protect it by equipping Coast guard with Latest Technology weapons marine survilance Radar Sonar Radar Submarine Helicopter fighter jets. They should be in Parallel to Indian Navy. They should be equipped even to Stop War Ships and Submarines into Indian Water. They should scan every vessels entering Indian Water. The Paramilitary like force must be there to guard Indian maritime border, Coast and Ports.

मेरिन नेविगेशन ड्राफ्ट बिल में हमे अपनी मेरिन को प्रोत्साहन देने का प्रावधान करना चाहिए हमे देखना चाहिए कि कैसे हम इसमें प्रतियोगिता को भी बढ़ावा दे तथा सरकार को ज्यादा से ज्यादा टैक्स मिले
