One of the key priorities of the Government is to provide a non-adversarial and a responsive tax administration with the main objective of creating an environment conducive for achieving higher investments and growth. At the same time the focus is also on ensuring ease of doing business for the taxpayers. For individual taxpayers, Government endeavours to promote voluntary compliance by making compliance easy and reducing the cost of compliance for the taxpayers. These steps are aimed to ultimately result in buoyant revenue collections, reflecting higher growth, leading to higher standard of living and better quality of life for the citizens.

The Department of Revenue invites taxpayers and general public to provide innovative ideas and suggestions on tax policy and administrative issues with the objective of ease of doing business and reducing compliance cost for industries thereby facilitating buoyancy of revenue and increase in investment leading to higher growth.

India needs a transparent and simplified tax regime. Unfortunately instead of reforms, retrogressive and antitrade measures, and increased chances for corruption, harassment is all that seems to emerge. The only way development can be enhanced is to make the implement reforms . Unfortunately political dispensations and opposition to even sensible reforms make it an uphill task.A national commission with a binding agreement for all parties to come to agree on a minimum program of tax reform is

Please allow a tax payer who is expecting an income tax refund the option to apply that refund due as advance payment for next year's income tax. This will save Government lot of expenses associated with having to refund that money with interest and also the administrative hassles related to the same when refunds do not go through.

NRI/PIO investors spend $200-300 to obtain a DTAA Tax Residency Certificate and then courier it via expensive foreign courier companies to India to each entity that needs it. Why not Goverment charge a small fee from the investor and do this verification using passport / visa / immigration records available with Government and do it only once in IT eFiling Portal. From there banks/institutions can verify the TRC claims based on given PAN or emailid or phone number of tax payer!

Along with my earlier post kindly also add that the person making Fixed deposit should be allowed to take at least 50% of same as loan for business purpose. That will encourage people who has stashed money to avoid high tax rate but require funds for productive purposes.
