Nearly a decade and half has passed since the National Policy for Empowerment of Women, 2001 was formulated. Since then significant strides in global technology and information systems have placed the Indian economy on a trajectory of higher growth impacting the general populace and women, in particular in unique and different ways. The discourse on women’s empowerment has been gradually evolving over the last few decades, wherein paradigm shifts have occurred –from seeing women as mere recipients of welfare benefits to mainstreaming gender concerns and engaging them in the development process of the country. These changes have brought forth fresh opportunities and possibilities for women’s empowerment while at the same time presenting new and emerging challenges which along with persisting socio-economic problems continue to hinder gender equality and holistic empowerment of women.

The policy envisions a society in which, women attain their full potential and are able to participate as equal partners in all spheres of life. It also emphasises the role of an effective framework to enable the process of developing policies, programmes and practices which will ensure equal rights and opportunities for women.

The broad objective of the policy is to create a conducive socio-cultural, economic and political environment to enable women enjoy de jure and de facto fundamental rights and realize their full potential.

Priority Areas

1. Health including food security and nutrition
2. Education
3. Economy
4. Governance and Decision Making
5. Violence Against Women

Please stop this insanity. We are blindly following western traditions then we must follow them 100%. There is no Gender Specific Laws while we are making laws in our country totally gender specific. We have already seen that how 498A was grossly misused for nearly 25+ years and forced many of suicides. It was finally stopped by Supreme Court while this blunder was made by Sansad. Please stop this nonsense.

By this imbalanced, biased, policy we going to expand the social & matrimonial divide in India. Indian has been known for its family values & culture & unity. This is a BIG BLACK SPOT on us as a COUNTRY.

This draft of said policy kills & is not able to do justice with objective of the policy. We intend to have policy for women, where they attain full potential as equal partner for growth, ensuring equal rights, etc. Where if we dive deep into this, we are asking for rights, gender biased preferences, favors, privileges, etc on the cost of exploiting people other than woman i.e. Boys, Men, Senior Citizens, Transgenders, etc.

Please don't draft National policy for women 2016. I totally condemn this policy which is against Constitution and Human rights.if u want to make any policy then please make it for gender equality. Is it an offence to be a man in india? Is government don't think that there should be some policy and rights for Men's too? Already we are having more than 50 women centric laws.Consider men are also Humanbeings. Married Men #suicide every 8.5 min india due to misuse of 50 draconion laws by women.

This will promote gender biasness. Making policy for only one gender and allowing discrimination on gender basis will invite more problems for all including innocent men already suffering due to fake matrimonial disputes. Men also form part vote bank and nobody till date has framed any law without gender biasness and able to keep a home intact I dont think Indian women need more such misandric policies, they already MISUSE laws to spoil society for their baseless and illegal needs.

1. Its the men who do hard work. Tough jobs. They need good support. Indian economy is powered by men. If indian family system break continues like this. Men loose jobs. Economy will be affected. 2. Most of the indian girls take education. But refuse to work. Play victim card harass men around. do extortion. There by increase in boys school drop out. Low paying jobs. Too much family pressure has Increased men suicide rates. Stop this fake woman environment.

My request to the goverment to be just. Do not follow everything based on heard statements. Women already have many things in their favor. In the last 20 years in trying to make all provisions and priveleges in favor of women, things have become highly biased and detrimental to the society. Women have already broken the shackles and are only trying to get rights without responsibilities where as men are left with all responsibilities. This will create a dangerous imbalance in society.
