Nearly a decade and half has passed since the National Policy for Empowerment of Women, 2001 was formulated. Since then significant strides in global technology and information systems have placed the Indian economy on a trajectory of higher growth impacting the general populace and women, in particular in unique and different ways. The discourse on women’s empowerment has been gradually evolving over the last few decades, wherein paradigm shifts have occurred –from seeing women as mere recipients of welfare benefits to mainstreaming gender concerns and engaging them in the development process of the country. These changes have brought forth fresh opportunities and possibilities for women’s empowerment while at the same time presenting new and emerging challenges which along with persisting socio-economic problems continue to hinder gender equality and holistic empowerment of women.

The policy envisions a society in which, women attain their full potential and are able to participate as equal partners in all spheres of life. It also emphasises the role of an effective framework to enable the process of developing policies, programmes and practices which will ensure equal rights and opportunities for women.

The broad objective of the policy is to create a conducive socio-cultural, economic and political environment to enable women enjoy de jure and de facto fundamental rights and realize their full potential.

Priority Areas

The proposed National Policy for women is highly gender biased. While drafting a policy challenges which are are unique to female gender should only be addressed. Empowerment at the cost of suppression and negligence of other gender is neither needed nor desirable. This will create gender war and widen the rift the two genders. What is needed is unified approach to empowering both genders. Bringing in such policy is not in the interest of nation.

National policy for empowerment of women 2016, is a tool to destroy Indian family culture. this policy is made to destroy male rights on the name of women empowerment. I deny to this policy and whole my family oppose to it, including women.

Does woman empowerment means killing men, a married man commits suicide every 8 minutes, is this not enough, if this is what government thinks about men then why in the hell is gender equality a constitutional right. Madam more then 38% litigant father's do not get a chance to see their children in first 3 years of litigation, please learn from mistakes of the west they are adopting our values and u want us to go down their path of self distruction

I have victim of fake 498A threats... my mistake was I am man. I beg to law makers of the country...open your eyes and make human oriented law and not gender biased. Why only ladki padao ladki bachao....why not bal vikas, bal kalyan and bal shiksha....but drawing lines in name of gender? Why? I my mother and my family have been victim of misuse of 498A in May 2014. The culprit - my ex wife is a woman and my mother a victim is also a woman. So please make human centric laws

Women doing adultery but IPC 497 only accept male as accused. Why??? This is not government giving licence to the government to do any wrong doing and nonsense will be suffered by male only. A wonen doing adultery but she is innocent. Why she can not aprroch police. She have right to log complaint. Why government do this on your end why every thing on mail. Rihts without duties will do distruction to society. Even constitution not doing this why this in this case. It should not be done.

I do not agree with the proposals. Instead of developing the competencies of the women to match the men, men's competencies are robbed by these proposals. It is against natural justice and by this way, India will suffer a lot as many men will not be able to contribute to the growth of the company because they will be stuck up in false court cases.
