For delivering various Citizen centric services and furthering the reach of Financial Services including Insurance, the Government of India has set up a Task Force to examine and recommend efficient utilisation and upgradation of the Post Office Network, enabled with Digital/Internet Connectivity to rural Offices and outpost areas enabling reach of different services in rural areas. •    To further the role of Post Offices in Financial inclusion, including Insurance products
•    The infrastructure requirements of the Post Offices and the Postal Network
•    To make the Post Offices financially viable

Equal the interest rates of postal savings bank with that of banks and various new schemes like flexible RD account on par with the banks need to be introduced along with enhancing soft skills of employees. For mail services, introduction of modern technology required which should be more user friendly.

This is something what I have observed when I was on my visit to Sydney. They have a concept of giving the franchisees to either Individuals or small companies and each company runs as a separate profit centre. Certain amount of Funds should be allocated to each post office and there should be an initial basic infrastructure setup provided by the government. Even the Individuals will invest 40% of the capital cost.

1. Online services. Print label at home with tracking option. Drop at nearby postbox and should be picked by the mail-man. 2. Flat-Rate shipping envelopes. 3. Tech-Savy staff. 4. Sell greeting-cards/envelopes and other essentials at post-office itself for improving income-sources.

Firstly bring post office at par with a bank infrastructure. Make the staff tech savvy. Bring entire postal address on a central database and link them to the pin codes. So typing a pin codes should display all available addresses linked to that pin code. This would significantly reduce losses/delays due delivery. The Royal Mail in UK has this facility. Use post offices to conduct night school classes for adults.
