LPG is one of the ‘clean’ cooking fuel with present consumer base of 17cr in the country and present coverage is 60% of the households. Government of India is committed to increase LPG coverage in the country to 75% of the household. Present, LPG distributor network has more than 17000 distributors spread having presence in both Rural and Urban areas of the Country. Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India is of the view that there is a need to increase of LPG coverage in the rural areas considering the benefits of LPG in terms of health and environment. Ministry recognizes that availability, accessibility and affordability of LPG are the key factors to increase the LPG coverage in rural areas. This can be done with bringing in new distributorships aligning with challenges encountered with respect of making them available to the last mile.

Therefore, Ministry solicits suggestions/inputs from citizens on the new model of distributorship particularly for the areas such as Hilly/Desert/Densely forested/other difficult locations. Also, to suggest names of locations which require establishing new distributorship.

The extant Guidelines for Selection of Distributorship is available on www.petroleum.nic.in

Moreover if its decided not to give subsidiary then why Govt has made the move to register bank account for all who need subsidiary ? Does govt want to peep citizens pocket to know its account balance by registering every ones account. We have spent 2-3 days from bank to LPG agency to get this subsidiary, now after all these struggle Govt want to say now "you wont be given subsidiary" ? why this rule ? Why all these drama made ?

This is a very ridicules move from the Govt to stop the subsidiary for income above 10L.These are the people who pays more tax to the government. Why Govt is depended on common people after deducting so much of tax from common people. If its a charity , then lets people decide , why Govt imposing rule on it. That means Govt doest have fund to provide LPG to rural area and depending on common people to fund more apart from thei tax ?How we assure giving up subsidiary will give more to rural ?

Installing bio gas plant in rural areas will be a good decision. It is eco-friendly and doesn't require much money in constructing. our government can also help in installing this type of plant. this will save a lot of money from subsidiaries given to LPG. State gov can take this initiative also.#biogas #ecofriendly.

One thing we can do now is to set up piped PNG in all the towns and the cities so the LPG cylinders will be available for distribution into the rural areas by setting up distributors in rural areas. For a better future option we need to develop a piped gas line in the whole country such as we have for water distribution , this will reduce the transportation costs of cylinders and other man power needed to run the dealerships..
