Waste management is an important requirement for ecologically sustainable development. Efficient sorting of waste is a major issue in today’s society. The main goals of this discussion are to come up with solutions for the following problems using technology as a tool.

1) Reducing waste production
2) Ensuring that wastes are properly disposed
3) Recycling and re-using disposed products

“Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” or the "Clean India Mission" is India's biggest cleanliness campaign that aims to accomplish the vision of "Clean India". Waste management is an integral part of this campaign. To assist the “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” initiative, projects may be setup to create products which are solar-powered trash receptacle and trash compactor that alerts sanitation crews of municipal authorities, when it is full.

Also E-Waste (obsolete, discarded, broken and surplus electrical and electronic devices) is of immediate and long term concern as the industry is unregulated and recycling can lead to major environmental degradation posing a major threat to human health.

Internet of Things (IoT) is a new generation technology which allows integration of small devices/gadgets with web based system .The devices send signals through sensors using constraint application protocol (CoAP), Message Queue Telemetry Transport (MQTT) etc. and interact with the web-based system using the HTTP protocol, So the existing solution architectures are getting extended.

We would like to welcome your ideas on how a smart waste management system using IoT can be implemented in order to achieve the target of “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”.

We need laws to reduce and recycle packaging. It is hardly smart to focus on managing waste 'smartly, while increasing our generation of more and more waste. Let us not copy the failed approaches from the West, but be genuinely smart.

Don't use tooth brush the plastic takes much time to degrade. hence every human dispose its brush after 2 month. Instead of brush use DATUN which gives no loss to environment. This will save some money also

Set up biogas plants at areas near cattle farms, poultry farms and places where there are a lot of trees around. The regular tree break-oofs can serve as a fodder to the biogas plants. Moreover,Refuse Derived Fuel using Plasma Technology has to be extensively applied and all existing such factories must be restarted. PPP model is very effective in this respect, as was for Durgapur.

there are two king of waste solid and liquid , while solid waste excluding plastic and polythene can be properly utilized for producing manure which can be used for agriculture and landfilling purposes whereas plastic waste can be used for road construction we need to install new technology its not a big deal. liquid waste can be used in water treatment plant which can be used for irrigation purposes

Wastes are only going to increase in future generations. - Can we think of courses and jobs based on Waste management? - Provide tax incentives to those firms and professionals in waste management fields. - Tax incentives for the companies and products which are made of recycled materials. Also some kind of benefits for the consumer who purchase those products which are made of recycled materials.

All over the country, the garbage is spread through, pigs are rummaging through it, and flies are a mess.... i am sure burning it would solve many health problems. killing the pigs, street dogs, and monkeys and rats will also solve a big health problem. people with religious objections should be willing to give their front yard to house all the stray animals, so streets can be clean and safe.
