Waste management is an important requirement for ecologically sustainable development. Efficient sorting of waste is a major issue in today’s society. The main goals of this discussion are to come up with solutions for the following problems using technology as a tool.

1) Reducing waste production
2) Ensuring that wastes are properly disposed
3) Recycling and re-using disposed products

“Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” or the "Clean India Mission" is India's biggest cleanliness campaign that aims to accomplish the vision of "Clean India". Waste management is an integral part of this campaign. To assist the “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” initiative, projects may be setup to create products which are solar-powered trash receptacle and trash compactor that alerts sanitation crews of municipal authorities, when it is full.

Also E-Waste (obsolete, discarded, broken and surplus electrical and electronic devices) is of immediate and long term concern as the industry is unregulated and recycling can lead to major environmental degradation posing a major threat to human health.

Internet of Things (IoT) is a new generation technology which allows integration of small devices/gadgets with web based system .The devices send signals through sensors using constraint application protocol (CoAP), Message Queue Telemetry Transport (MQTT) etc. and interact with the web-based system using the HTTP protocol, So the existing solution architectures are getting extended.

We would like to welcome your ideas on how a smart waste management system using IoT can be implemented in order to achieve the target of “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”.

Smart waste management is very important topic now days. As per my view and GEMBAs in villages, cities and metro cities their is lack of knowledge about the categorized waste management. First we require to start the basic requirement of waste disposal through school and college training's and also should be done through TV and radio advertisement. commercial purpose is complying the waste management in some cities. "Ghanta Gadi" project in some cities are very effective now days.

Smart waste management is very important for our environment. In India there is no proper planning of bio and non bio waste are not propely treated .In every city there should have bio waste dustbin should be separated from non bio dustbin .accordingly they should be treated

#CleanIndiaMission : a) Connect all subsidies like gas, water, electric power etc to aadhaar. Provide 3 buckets to every city dwelling family to segregate biodegradable, plastic and non-biodegradable waste. If anyone is not participating, cut their subsidies. Convert biodegradables to power and manure. Plastic to diesel. Inert materials to value added products. 10000 new startups can do all these. India will get 10000 crore annual revenue also. waste is money.

Sir, This is gowtham from delhi I work Indian Airforce...My idea for waste management would be that we need to educate people on how to dispose garbage at home..i see a ground level reality where in people still dont have idea that were the disposed garbage is goin to...we need to implement good steps from the root cause of garbage collection..MCD collects garbage and throws it to disposal area and the dump looks like a hill and stack of garbage...the process is like we give to them and they

Sir. This is vinooth, lecturer in Bangalore. Some people in Bangalore are throwing wastes to the drainage during night hours. If we ask them why, they answer that we can't divide the waste as dried and wet. The workers of waste dumping vehicle are asking money every time. If we suggest households they are rushed over us. So what can I do please tell me sir.

With thousands of tons of organic wastewaste every month,we can establish biogas plant, which will produce methane gas.Methane can be used either to generate power or as house hold fuel. We should make people aware to keep organic waste and inorganic waste separately.

We lack awareness that what waste we produce comes back to harm us. The only way in india to make it waste free is to purchase the waste from house holds segeregated waste like biowaste kg 1rs plastic waste kg 5 rs metal waste rs 10 if we fix a price and collect we can avoid the cost of seperation and directly use the biowaste for power generation plastic for petrolium products etc.

Like toilet building and usage of it and owing village by every MPs and MLA make one bio gas plant with power generation in every ward of city / town / village. This will help nation in multiple times @ 20 million units required Low cost and time project Local waste disposal saves fuel Power generation helps local electrification reduce losses Generation of millions of jobs by construction & operation Fertiliser made available reduces subsidy and foster organic farming
