A huge amount of Govt. money is spent on subsidy of petroleum products. The Govt. had to spend Rs. 1,39,869 crore on account of subsidy on petroleum products in the year 2013-14. As, the indigenous availability of crude Oil and LPG is limited, these are imported in huge quantities to fulfill the demand of the country.  As Govt. provides domestic LPG and PDS Kerosene on subsidised price, this results in huge subsidy burden on Govt. Due to presence of dual pricing(subsidized and non-subsidized) in LPG and SKO, there is a diversion of subsidized LPG and Kerosene into commercial usage. Although Govt. has taken several initiatives to reduce this diversion of subsidized LPG and PDS Kerosene, public participation is solicited to suggest ways for reducing diversion in LPG and PDS Kerosene.

You are invited to suggest ideas to reduce diversion and the subsidy burden on account of LPG and Kerosene.

Sir, it is very unfortunat that we want to save subsy on lpg but the most richest, high profile, poltician & corporats uses subsidised cylender at their home. First of all we finish the kota of all central ministers, mps, cm of states & their cabinet, all ias officers & all the corporates. If we could ban & compel them to take nonsubsidised cylinder then we can save huge ammount of mony for our country. Thanking you. Best regards_ Kuldeep airon, Sambhal, U.P.

Those who use less LPG cylinders in a year will avail subsidies namely 4-6 cylinders will get one cylinder free.Because free has reached our people more. Most indians dont like to loose government subsides.I expect this is practicable in today life.

Even if we're able to control the distribution & diversion; one can't control the PDS consumer selling it further. In a country of our size & complexity, it is difficult. What can be done effectively though is have a short & long term strategy. Short term strategy could be direct depositing funds to the beneficiary, instead of subsidy on the product. Long term strategy could be making the distribution as pre-paid, metered, DTH supply with a monthly cap. No subsidy & No manual intervention.

Sirji, Part 1 / 2 : LPG is used by one & all, regardless of Poor or Rich and due to this, SUBISDY on each cylinder is enjoyed by both, and / or even by those, who’re ready to pay@the actual cost (w/o subsidy). THIS IS NOT FAIR! This imbalance must end & Govt. should device a scheme to do away with subsidy for the richest class Ist & then gradually cover all those, who can afford to pay for LPG w/o subsidy.

Part 2 /2 : Afterall, subsidy in real terms, do not auger well for the nation & it’s a back handed compliment to nation’s citizen, & pinches them thru’ budget deficit/inflation. Ofcourse, we cannot stop it overnight but this process should go on step by step. So, subsidy on LPG cylinders can be gradually removed in a phased manner starting from the richest of riches in such a way that, only poor & deserving citizen of this nation get the subsidy on LPG.

To reduce diversion, 1. remit cash subsidy direct in the name of the beneficiary.2. Get the lists checked first by anganwadi officials and publish them in the website of the District Collectors, inviting objections thereon.3. Indicate penal provisions of holders of bogus and ineligible connections/cards.3.Get the lists cross checked by NGOs and lastly by Panchayt and Revenue officials.4. The connections of adhar not holding persons may be cancelled, after giving opportunity.5. reliable vigilance

Lift subsidies both on kerosine oil and LPG and ensure same tie that they are available at lesser price than the present. I recollect the days of Janatha Govt., who did free market of some ECs, when the prices in the open market have come down. If it is not possible, then the following may be done atleast. Kirosine subsidy may be totally lifted.

Stop subsidy on kerosine, 90% use in commercial area, Manage kerosine sell in Open Market Because Who use kerosine purchase Approx. 30-40/ per liter. Vo to Open market se le hi lega, Lekin Govt. Ko bhaut Fayada hoga, Thodi vipaksh sor machega, usko chup karne ke liye BPL Card dharko ko subsidi chalu rakh sakte h. Otherwise Gas ki tarah Khate me paisa bheja ja sakta h

the long term solution of diversion of petroleum products is changing the dealers on 3 yearly basis. the storage center and distribution should be owned by petroleum company only. the 12 check of subsidy amount of kerosene or LPG should be delivered to every card holder. WHEN THEY LIKE THEY MAY PURCHASE THE LPG/kerosene from the distributor. I am sure this will help the diversion of petroleum products

in my view, Encourage solar system, government ought to start the use of solar system for example: street lights, city, village and highway's light, society and apartment's lamp post which government provides with electricity etc etc... so public will get the idea about free energy source and then Encourage them to solar with subsidy
