As the Indian population continues to grow there will be an immense competition for natural resources while achieving food, nutritional, environmental and livelihood security in the country. In addition, the negative consequences of climate change become more evident in agriculture with exploitation of natural resources, decline in soil fertility, ground water levels to meet the ever increasing demands for food and nutritional requirements. To maintain sustainable balance between natural resources and the demand, immediate attention is needed in several areas viz., imbalanced use of fertilizers, declining soil organic carbon, lowering of water table, soil health, organic farming and climate change impact in agriculture sector.

Recent studies on soil biodiversity, rapid composting techniques, use of bio-filters for removal of heavy metals from compost, application of Nano sensors in agriculture to improve nutrient use efficiency, need based fortification of micro nutrients; availability of soil health card, conservation agriculture for enhancing soil health etc. will support sustainable management of natural resources in agriculture.

With a particular focus on scientific and technical understanding of natural resources management, this portal tries to incorporate stakeholders suggestions in achieving sustainable natural resources management.

Sir according to me Biogas is the great asset in the rural areas of india. If government take initiative in this field it can be prove revolutionary for our country. Because setting up of biogas plants will not only meet energy need of the rural areas but also the slurry which is the by product of biogas plants will be great substitute for fertilizers and will lead to promotion of organic farming in the country and will also help in improving fertility of the soil.

Land acquisition should be on lease, with compensation in the form of annuity policy to beneficiaries. A clause to get enhanced amount when company becomes profit making unit. Land should go back to owner if purpose of acquisition extinguishes. We don't like you getting bad name for doing no harm to farmers. We know your intentions are not bad. In welfare state such mode of compensation in land acquisition is writing on the wall.

Gud evening everyone, I am not an expert in politics and economics but I want to ask kya ham ye land acquisition bill k karan jo hangama ho raha hai, ye bill state government k under nhi chorna chaiye? State apna bill khud banaye aur jo land available karaye wahan infrastructural development kar sake? mai samajta hu isse ek competition badhega aur desh aage badhega. please give your view....

to increase the forest cover and for soil protection methods of organic farming should be practiced and cow dung should be used for fertilizers and pesticides which are in practice in many of the areas of rural and urban India. Govt. should promote these ideas through advertisements on TVs and newspaper and magazine.

Traditional knowledge should be collected, stored, researched and enhanced. Organic farming practices should be promoted and awareness about them should be spread. Techniques like SRI should be pioneered and implemented for all crops. Local varities and hybrids should be produced. Agroforestry should be promoted. Cooperatives should be helped to undertake organica and natural practices. Movements like campesina e campesina are good indicators of direction and approach to take.

Solar energy be made cheaply available in INDIA leading to reduction in pollution via conventional means of generating energy in local house holds, business,Farmers... like generator sets . this is wasting our valuable foreign exchange purchasing fuel on the other hand polluting the enviornment with the waste generated by these fuels.. fuels like CNG be made more easily ans cheaply available for transportation and solar energy introduced for running vehicles.
